By the way did you guys get the idea from spelunky? If so then i hope those ghost arn't on every single moon that would be annouying and repetitive Would be more creative and be better if there where diffrent things on all the moons trying to keep you away
But it's still there as of last night. In fact, /ai/missionhuman1.aimission is the Erchius Mine mission.
Which is a good thing. The mission itself is fine and plays a necessary story role, it just needs some revamping. Every time I play it, no matter how many times I read the wiki entry for that boss, it kills me.
Well, flippity doodle doo. As if fueling my ship wasn't already a chore. At least tell me ominous music plays when they're near, like Ornes from Kid Icarus. And please tell me that the ore shop still sells plutonium.
Dunno about music, but nope, the shop does NOT sell plutonium. Only the liquid fuel, 5px per (5000 for a full tank). Which is, like, nothing because in Casual I got like 45,000 pixels after "clearing" the whole game (that is, all the missions and stuff unlocked). That's with me buying a 10,000px EPP Augment, and about two tanks of gas and 4 colony deeds.
I've hit lategame in Nightly, and can tell you that no such weapon exists. Even if it did, these things hit you for 3000 armor ignoring damage, so fighting them is really NOT a good idea. I agree that moons needed some sort of content other than "free fuel." But I really don't think making them more hazardous than a magma world was such a good idea...There has to be some other way to make collecting fuel a risk vs reward venture.
What's the point of making an ENDGAME weapon able to kill the Ghosts, when by Endgame you don't really need fuel anyways? lol. You need that weapon at the beginning of the game, not the end of it. Or at least midway. But again, looks like we all gotta pay at the pump. Or, perhaps until a modder simply removes the ghosts entirely. EDIT: I think they should just use the moontants from the Erchius Mine mission with occasional scatterings of mine-related mini-dungeons, and perhaps also spaceship wrecks with moontants in those as well.
Yep, only problem. In the nightly, they haven't fixed the liquid upgrade for the Matter Manipulator yet. So you have to cheat in lava. lol I filmed a video of that. The amount of times I said GOD PLEASE NO!!!! I just realized. The Emojis are Nuru
Please do not double post, triple post, quadruple post, etc. If you wish to reply to more then one person at a time, you can hit the reply button multiple times and all the quotes will be added into the text box. Or you can use the edit button to add in more content to the post. I went ahead and merged all the posts together.
I thinks it's a pretty good idea to add some challenge to mining echius fuel. But only one enemy , might get a bit repetitive.
Of all things in Starbound, for some reason this scares me the most. Also, you can kill them if you make them pass through lava and have them take consecutive damage. (not that it should surprise you but if you kill one, another one will spawn in)
I personally like the idea behind it - an invincible enemy that can go through solid objects and whose sole purpose is give you a painful death. Although I understand why some people would find it annoying after a while, I think that's kind of the point... otherwise everyone and their mother would just farm these Moons for "free" fuel, making the fuel station entirely obsolete. Simply put - don't want to deal with annoying ghosts then save up your pixels and buy it instead. As long as there's an alternative then I'm happy... besides, it ain't nothing mods can't fix later. But I do agree that the ambiance should match the current situation - if I'm being chased by an eldritch horror then I want some spooky music or environmental sounds to go along with it and not the cheerful tones that are common throughout Starbound. Make it immersive, make it scary! As for the ghost itself... the design is kinda meh - looks like a bit of intestine with a butt-hole for a mouth. Something along the lines of Lovecraft monster mixed with Silent Hill is more up my alley! That and spindly monsters with abnormally long and thin bodies... *shudders*
It isn't meant to be unusual. It's meant to be a normal hazard in Moons, as you'll need fuel because of the new quests things In moons, there are no sound. Except wind. And you. That's all. These ghosts don't make noise. Starbound doesn't make any noise. Believe me, the "atmosphere" (get it ?) is kinda spooky. You can't know where they're coming from by listening to them (which is pretty logical, I guess).
I think he's saying that it will be repetitive because there is only the ghosts and no other monsters currently inhabiting the moons... And unfortunately, there is sound on moons. Cheery music that honestly we could do without. Giving the ghost some sort of creepy ambient sound that gets louder as it sucks the life from you would definitely add to he spook factor, especially since that would imply that it's in your nerves themselves instead of an external sound...
