Not the first time the update is delayed. At this point when we are all so pumped for the game we're just about ready to explode it's better to hope for worse so you're not dissapointed. It's probably an announcement of the cancellation of starbound, "there was just too much pressure from the fans, the staff subdued to stress, Tiy fled the country to take up knitting."
HEY MAN. Knitting is SERIOUS business! Don't you DARE say anything bad about knitting! Also, that would be really depressing, stop speaking blasphemy.
Yes, yes, yes... The Beta El-Dorado is waiting at the end of the F5-rainbow. Or maybe... Maybe... They're just super busy and have recieved a shipload of inspiration and gusto from the convention and want to spend as much of that positive energy as possible to boost the speed of development. What if we all just turn things around? Let's say we all were doing some project (let's call it a Death Ray because reasons.) of some variety or other, and just showed its prototype to the world for the first time. They world rejoiced and military commanders from all across the globe approached us and said "Hey. We really want your Death Ray on our Doom-Zeppelins. Keep up the good work!". Imagine we got home, where we'd been keeping our little world of development intimate with more specialized military officers as advisors and keeping in daily touch with our investors. Now, we could have the kind of investors that expects everything to go back to normal after this, or maybe we had the investors that realized that "Hey. The cat's out of the bag now. Our team of kidnapped russian scientists dedicated Rn'D-team have gotten the attention of some big wigs now. Let's allow them to focus now, and make that last inspired push towards freedom finished product." Even though our developers never doubted their own game, and had our full support throughout development, perhaps now they've realized just how far they've come. Perhaps now they make that final, daring charge for the barricades of release. And perhaps now they want us to charge with them instead of waiting at home like lovelorn wives for another letter from the front.
You, my good sir, are the literal definition of white knighting. Let people have their views and instead of charging into the battlefield against them, simply try to alleviate their doubts with fair exposition of your own perspectives. Writing walls of text telling them "You don't even know, bro. You don't understand how stressful it is." instead tell them "Hey man, I totally understand where you're coming from, I just hope that you are aware of many statements they have made to try and alleviate those doubts. If this isn't sufficient for you, perhaps this is not the place for you, because I highly question their ability to do much more." This in turn gives them answers to their questions, and you the satisfaction of having told your own perspectives in the words of the people you're trying to defend. Don't get me wrong, I totally agree with what you're saying, but do try to be reasonable about understanding what people are saying, and instead of coming up with speculation, answer their doubts with definite research you have studied regarding the subject. It's like science, but in terms of communication of ideals as opposed to sharing of ideas.
Actually I was only insinuating that knitting releaves stress, right? As for the depressing part, my point is that people take every little change in the chucklefish patterns as signs for super great news! And end up expecting too much
There is still a chance this could mean beta! Is it high? no. Is it possible? YES. They were almost done tier 2 a few days ago and they said beta is released once tier 3 is done so it IS possible.
I would have, if I was aiming to calm the roaring sea of uncertainty. But nay says I! This is a rallying call! Cry havoc! Let loose the dogs of war upon procrastination and self doubt! Seriously, though. I have nothing if not speculation and merely meant to offer this thread an alternative point of view. I'm not sure what definite research you believe me to have access to regarding the planning of projects within Chucklefish, but I fear you give this humble knight far too much credit.
I think that was caused by Omni, when he said Beta will have 3 tiers and Tiy said Tier 2 was almost done...
Yeah that was quite a happy surprise! They really aren't very good at thinking about what they say and give us beta-craving fans reasons to believe! Unless they just love watching the forums go nuts, who knows.
On another note... Your profile picture makes me want to hide somewhere, but as I'm already at my hiding spot, I'm running out of options....
