Dev Blog 1st of June - Do Glitch Dream of Electric Fluffalo?

Hello! GeorgeV here.

Today we’re showing you two things. The first is the Fluffalo!




Fluffalo are livestock that can be raised to produce various materials that can be used to craft useful items. They start out as eggs, which hatch into Baby Fluffalos. If you give your Baby Fluffalo specific foods, they’ll grow into one of these five variants of Fluffalo!

The second is a pair of detectors. The Cave Detector and the Ore Detector. These are both craftable fairly late in the game and will help with exploration and mining. The benefits are pretty self explanatory.



The Cave detector will help you find cave formations!

And the ore detector will help you find those pesky ores. There’s more around you than you realize!

The Fluffalo kinda remind me of Mareep o3o

I wonder if this means that mineral farming is actually feasible now. I hope so. But still, now that you can map cave formations and ore deposits, I'll bet you guys can code up some actualy mining NPCs!

 

The more you add the more I can't wait til 1.0

This is adorable.

Love that each of them now has a unique appearance. Previous nightlies just had recolored versions of the non-element one.

Poison(?) is definitely is my favorite since it's so basic and simple.
Ice is stylish with that mustache. A true dapper gentleman needs no monocle nor hat, just a mustache.
Fire kind of looks like it never actually matured, and kept a dumb kid look. Color scheme is nice though.
Electric is absolutely intimidating with those horns.

Glad to know they have names now. I liked calling them Beasty, but Fluffalo is more fitting. I just hope they get names and descriptions when captured, like Poptops and Moontants. Unknown indescribable horrors are no fun!

EDIT: Just checked the nightly. The new Fluffalo sprites are in and they're still "Unknown" "some kind of indescribable horror." when captured. Fail!

The Asimov referencing blog title does make me think though... What does go on in the mind of a glitch? There's a lot of lore potential here, and I'd love to see what I can find...
