the new bar sucks!!! you can't use as much as the old one. builders have to constantly change the tool bar. and making 3 of these doesnt do much. i really liked the old one. that old bar didn't need fixing. you took alot of connivance away. it would be better if you just moved the right hand select with shift scroll and left hand with just scroll. and it scrold normal like the new one. but with the old bar.!! also the old bar took item from the bag to the hand so it provided more space to hold things. i do like the organization also. but the way things are organized in the trays are a bit off. metals and animal parts should be micromanaged just a small bit. you could do alot more then change up the bar. really. that old bar was what made alot much easier and faster. it just needed to be scripted a bit differently.
two things... 1) nightly is updated automatically, and that's just where they were with progress on the bar... 2) See the above post mentioning how this is not the final iteration of the item bar...
Well, i guess a "permanent or not" question is off the line, since i can't see the reason for them to move the "scan" button from sidebar to hotbar if that's not the final version of it. Such a shame no one gives a damn, as i've predicted ten pages ago Still hoping for the change, but now... well, "get used or don't play" for not free-to-play project is kinda weird. That's my opinion only. Well, not only mine, but you got the point.
It might be.... but before people started to all pile-up in repetitive posts a lot of people came forward to mention loving the new bar too. That's not something you should forget. We just didn't hear much back from them because they likely didn't check again because "Re:satisfied with it therefore nothing else to say" to not mention those who may have considered coming to mention that they do like the new bar even after trying it but saw all the people raging non-stop about it that they preferred not to for fear of basically painting a target on their back and be dragged into arguments about something they were perfectly fine with right now. So it is your opinion, but do be aware a rollback to the old bar might only causes just as many people to be angry not just at being made to use the old bar again but for such a thing to become a change implemented only to be rolled back in another switcheroo episode of the game's development. I'm not sure how people would react to trying out and liking such a feature only to see it thrown back into the revolving door it came out of because they didn't pay attention to the forums and the people pushing back against it while they were busy enjoying trying it out. For me it's hard to not see this and feel like every times I see new features or changed from the old introduced to the game, the pushback always feel the same... even if later those features remain and people have just got used to them, to not speak of those who couldn't play the game without these features now. There's less outright attacks about those who back the new changes which I really thank because that's literally why I had to take a full year of sabbatical from these forums(I still recall the days I saw people defending their liking of a dev's decision being accused of "whiteknighting" or being "devs fanboys sheeples" and I really wishes it wasn't so widespreadly common in gaming forums) before I recently decided to be more active and vocal again.... but I certainly still see a lot of the negative assumptions about the devs that constantly imply they "don't care" or "don't listen to players" because they're not rolling back immediately a change that might be(for all external perceptions) disliked by only one segment of the game's population but silently enjoyed by an equally notable group(I've been surprised by the amount of people coming up to speak of their like for the change when I made threads to voice that I'd like it to remain an option no matter what happen with the hotbar... and if we're going on a matter of "vocal headcounts" of people actually coming up to speak in favor(even when suggesting tweaks) of the new bar... my impression has been that it's a roughly 50/50 split among people who're aware of the new bars in terms of like and dislike. On a sidenote.... I am personally very much in favor of a "classic hotbar/new hotbar" gameplay setting allowing people to choose their preferred layout. But this said I see people making the suggestion and being angered it's not there already as if it was simple as slapping a "on/off" electrical switch on a wall. At the end of the day we're talking not just of the ability to support a major change to UI and even controls a bit... but also the ability to -switch- between such a changed UI and the classic one without conflict. It's not as simple as making a switch you can flick on and off. And even in real life a "simple" electrical switch is still somethings that needs to be connected into a greater electrical network where you need to make sure it's the proper wires being connected to it if you want the right lights to turn on or off in the room too(to not mention making the hole in the wall to access said wires and all... or install them if they are not present yet within the wall which might involve making further holes to run your length of cables across the lengths you need. Holes which you later need to plug back afterward). It might sound out of subject... but I just want to use it as an example that even "simple" things are often not that simple.
Eeeeevery time i'm reading your answers i have a feeling that i've rread them already somewhere You're literally repeating the same things over and over again. Yeah, i got the point, no one knows what it is until the devs will tell us, and they won't until release.
I understand the annoyance. Mind you, before that I had to read through(and have read through) people(who were generally often the same face, again, coming back most of those pages) repeating over and over again the same point about why they dislike the bar. So yeah I may have decided one or two pages ago that I wanted to make my viewpoint heard too. My apologies that my repetiveness grates yours after having had to see so much repetiveness from others. I'll leave the subject be, but after starting posting only two pages ago I feel a bit annoyed when people accuse me of being "repetitive" when we've clearly had their own "point" repeated at us for over 10 pages and multiple threads already going "who else hate the new bar" or "how much do you dislike the new bar" like it's okay for people to hate on something as much as they want but as soon as people start to talk about how they "like" something or go "you know maybe we should give it time to see how things go" they can be told to "stop repeating themselves over and over" or "stop dominating the conversation"
I'll be honest, I don't like the new hotbar. Now we can't hold as many items in our inventory, building has become a pain, and I actually used the hotbar to keep track of how many of an item I had (like ore) I was looking for. I can't do that with this new hotbar. Plus I only ever really used two weapons myself, so the rest of the hotbar would be going to waste for me, but that's a personal preference.
I think that the more people to say stuff the better!. this is how good games get made. I'm pretty sure if i was making a indev game with a nightly build that i would also have a fan forum so i could hear if something was wrong or if I could make something better. or new ideas to put into a awesome game. repetitiveness just means its worth good change. the more people to not like something. it'll change. and if only one or two people don't like it... then it might not change. lol good job and putting your 2 cents in!!
Hey everyone! We know that the new hotbar is a big change, and is difficult to adjust to. It was a big change for us, too! We've been playing the game for years now, and such a big UI change was jarring to us at first, too. Ultimately, though, we decided that it was a better system and was easier to use once we did adjust to the change. We do hear your concerns and the feedback in this thread is valuable, but we aren't going to change the hotbar back to the old one for the 1.0 update. We also can't implement an option to toggle between the old and new hotbars for the 1.0 update. We will look into ways to improve the hotbar for future updates. Reminder that everyone is free to discuss their opinions on the hotbar in this thread as long as the discussion remains civil.
The new hotbar isn't bad it has its uses it's just annoying to have the slots paired for so many things I'd be ok if you couldn't carry two, two handed weapons or items in the same dual slot that makes sense since you can't use two of them at once. But for other items I don't see why you shouldn't be able split the slots into separate single slots in order to use them that way you can have a two handed weapon and healing or building item in that same slot space and toggle between the two at will. This would give you the choice of having 12 or 6 slots without going back to the old bar or having to make a completely new one from scratch though it might take a bit of recoding.
Been looking for any way to change it back... Then I find this. Good job giving me and a bunch of others the middle finger, a slap in the face, and stealing our money. What about people like me who can't adjust due to motor control issues? Did you ever think about that? The game is literally unplayable for me right now unless I turn on admin mode and run around invincible, which isn't fun in the slightest. I liked this game at one point, I preordered the dang thing and waited years after release to get a computer good enough to PLAY it (Because screw that early access that was so slow you needed a gaming computer to get into it >_>) and now I can't do shit? When you break the game in such a way that people are being extremely vocal against it, that's a good time to take a step back and see what you did wrong. Instead, you're laughing at us and giving us a reason not to come back to your company ever again. Don't be those guys, I want to like this game again, not add another company to the blacklist.
