Awesome! How do you find it? I'm a gentoo user myself, still waiting for qt5 to be made stable so that the launcher for Starbound works. But at the moment I'm okay with launching the game manually.
I think you people at Chucklefish are doing awesome work, especially in the last weeks - so many features to be added and tweaked, lots of content many players will like. I think I should leave some feedback about the last updates and hotfxes and so on, might as well do it in this thread. Yesterday I played around with the 'new' pathfinding system and it's great. I noticed nothing wrong, tried fooling a bit with the monsters and using my NPC companion on the floran invitation mission. Works as it should! The price calculation formula introduced some updates ago is very nice, however I think it might be subject to a little further bit of tweaking (some foodstuffs could be a bit cheaper still but that's just my thinking). Aaaand I hope there's a sell option coming soon. Combat overall seemed to be much easier (got Dreadwing at the first try with one chracter which I'd call 'underequipped'), which I really like for the general monsters you meet on every planet. It feels way more dynamic. Bosses are still a challenge which I like. The char position getting saved when quitting the game was expected to be implemented some time and I like it. Yes, you can't "cheat" anymore by taking a "savegame shortcut" to your ship. And I think this is a good change. Great even if you're building something far away from your spawn/teleport location. As I'm doing a german Let's Play of this game I can also redirect some of the feedback here, there is a lot of interest in Starbound as a whole (most viewed project I've done so far). Some viewers really love it and they've told me that the game has never been boring to them. As of now, I've not heard (or read) any negative comments. They're happy with every update, even if the older savegames can't keep up to the new version sometimes. Ahem. I hope some of you might deem this feedback useful. G'day to y'all !
I wish we can lure in some special NPCs like rare traders and crafters if we have special rare furniture for them.
I wonder, does the same happen when you introduce things the NPC isn't used to or don't want in their house? ME: *places a fancy big screen TV in an NPC's house* NPC: *crying* This place just doesn't feel like home anymore... <ALTERNATELY> ME: *places a fancy big screen TV in an NPC's house* NPC: Oh, thank you! ME: Get out! I want a better tenant!
I'd also like to see guards who do stuff other than follow you. I hate when I guild my house and put some people and guards in it... the people always suicide off the roof or into animals and the guards go AWOL looking for me. Having guards that protect buildings and items in chests (and stay in their darn buildings!) would be excellent.
I wonder why anyone would think that house would be a safe place to live, with some crazy Apex coming in and breaking you chests and doors, then just standing there, menacingly! (Also nice Street fighter movie reference)
It's becoming real. Space hobos. THEY ARE GOING TO MAKE THEM POSSIBLE. WE NEED TO STOP THIS. BUILD HOMELESS SHELTERS IMMEDIATELY. #SPACENOBOS
For starters, I have to get those wheelbarrow-dragging merchants to live in my fortress! Now, what the heck do they need in order to migrate to my rooms? Cash registers? A security box, and at least an item frame with starter clothes inside?
Suggestion: They're too annoying! Make the NPC's talk less and stay longer before they leave. This way the players may have some more time to repair the house.
Well now... The NPCs finally know when they have been cheated of a room. It has too many rats I say. You just can't see them at the moment. Yeah I would leave if I were that NPC too. >< Too many leaks in that one. Ok that is for the second one. I guess now they are starting to have a bit more personality. Now all we need is a translator... Um.. to convert text to more sounding of the race speaking. Sure that will come in time. Keep up the great work, don't torment them too much.
Man these Npc lives just get worse & worse...I wonder if the glitch guard rusted due to all the crying.
Veni, vidi, conquestus sum domus, reliqui. This NPC thing is looking great. But a map is still the thing I want the most for now.
booooooo~~~~ i disappointed i want to create glitch only kingdom with variety room but this look plain and boring one item missing and they rage quit no fun and this is a feature i want for so long wonder if the guard will hit us if we kill our civilian
Was some sort of fun and pity to see a glitch cry. At least is far much better that simply see the NPC wander around without doing nothing.
Where is the galactic home owner association? Tenant unions? It would be funny if after a while a lawyer appears and hit you with a law book, stealing you a bunch of pixel.
