I think the previous dev blog post implies being able to befriend and recruit outlaws. Which is great.
They're a disgrace to other birds by being little more than mercenaries and thugs. (allbeit good ones)
But neither Avians or Penguins are 'birds'. We are not small, extinct feathered animals from Earth, we evolved on our homeworld independently.
Hiring someone with a video game idea & is named "Laggy" is never a good idea...Or just having the name "Laggy" in general.
I will now have to play as a black and white Avian, call myself Skipper, and have a 3 person penguin crew. Skipper: Shitake mushrooms! No more Mr. Cute and Cuddly.
That's cool! It would be really cool if you wanted to find a mercenary (of any species), you could find them at the bar.
Nice to see all these alternates... enjoying pace awaiting completion. Looks like yall are covering quite a few... angles, yes angles...
When it was first added, the outpost was a nice place for refugees to gather and help eachother out, but now it is a place to make shady deals, purchase illegal licenses, and hire mercenaries from a run down pub. Well, if puns are outlawed only outlaws would make puns, so this is great!
Right now, in the nightly, there's an opening in the floor that leads to a dark hallway, which drops down to the Beakeasy (which I totally love by the way, will definitely use in my starbound stories)
The game has three update branches; stable, unstable and nightly. Nightly is updated most frequently, but it for the most part broken, and as such is more aimed at beta testing than proper play. Unstable is basically just an intermediary between Nightly and Stable, and is only updated in preparation for a Stable update. As such, Stable is theoretically the most playable build, but isn't updated as often.
The game, because it is not finished yet, has three different "modes": Stable, Unstable, and Nightly. Stable is what the game is currently like in a "finished" state, with no bugs or errors. Unstable is what the game is like with a few stable changes from nightly, with a few bugs and glitches and such. Nightly is what the game developers work on and use every day: their "current" form of Starbound is that one, where they spend time adding content and fixing bugs before adding it to Unstable. You can access nightly (although I don't recommend it; like I said, it's very buggy and incomplete) by right clicking the game in your Steam Library, going to Properties, then Betas, then selecting the option "Nightly".
im going to assume something to do with the 2 shops outside the outpost building, I presume? possibly a teleport there? that COULD be what those 2 penguins behind the hoverbike store were working on. just sayin
Congratulations on four months without even an unstable update! Who needs a game version you can play without substantial risk of save-file deletion?
Thanks for the sarcasm, mate. It's not like Unstable updates are for polishing pre-release Stable updates for Stable and Nightly is not even close to that point yet.
