14/4 AMA - New Game Info [Updated]

oooo I like that idea. And to add to that would we be able to fire both at once or is it fire one then switch to the other and fire that one. Having both firing would be pretty cool and also the ability to toggle to fire one then the other.

  2. If somebody is able to Design an two-handed Gun with that effect would be awesome in-game. Still needs be controlled enough (because balance). :p

Yeah it very well could be an imbalanced weapon. :lod:

These "double guns" could count as "single weapon". I think it won't break the balance.

By "change fire mode" i mean changing fire mode from semi-auto to full-auto or something like that - for e.g. machine guns with grenade launcher - 2 weapons in 1 and 2 fire modes(shooting and throwing grenades) or some more sci-fi weapon example - Lancer from Gears of War. Of course I mean dynamic change weapon modes.

Two more from the AMA regarding mods and wiring.

Would mods "break" in new updates, like they do in Minecraft, or do they try to (mostly) stay stable, like they do in King Arthur's Gold or Terraria's tConfig?
    bartwe reply:
Starbound mods will mostly be based on lua and json and not a reverse engineered decompiled binary like minecraft. This will allow mods to be far more resilient to updates.

You've talked about and demonstrated a wiring Logic system in the past. Will this system have gates? And will one of those gates be a custom gate with variable inputs and outputs connected to a LUA script or something of the sort?
    bartwe reply:
Yes they can be programmed through LUA.

  7. Hey Julius, this are both already know info. Wiring and MODs (like they were before) is something announced in Modding API yet to come after launch. :)

Ah, sorry about that. The JSON scripting was new to me for how mods are built. I know they talked about LUA for the mods, but the logic gates being programmed via LUA was exciting news for me. LUA programmed logic gates allow for very robust wiring systems. Think comparing Minecraft built in wiring vs something like the ComputerCraft mod.

  9. It's some new info in already know Info.

About Wiring is indeed looks Awesome. Terraria had some interesting Wiring, with Timers, Interrupters, they could also Add Sensors, etc... Then the possibilities of what we could make with such system are AWESOME.

After going through all 8 pages here I can't seem to find anything about whether the price for Starbound will go up/down or stay the same on/post release.

  12. Because that were confirmed before AMA. But I can confirm you the price is GUARANTEED will be higher in game Launch.
Now there's something, an DEV posted in the forum that they can't assure that when BETA launch and Pre-Order ends, the price or tiers will be the same. This is mainly if this goes to Steam in BETA, due it's % share and the fact Steam doesn't convert currencies.

I would still like to know more about vehicles. Also, the extent that factories have been incorporated in-game or how automated the crafting process can be.

  14. Hello Alpha. About vehicles what is know, they are there. Confirmed Hoverbike and a Mech. Some Vehicles can have Guns. But since the DEVs just started to work on Vehicles on Starbound there is very little know info.

About Crafting, if you saw roadmap Craft Window, that's it. I believe it wont require you to build craft stations, Starbound is Futuristic and that would make not the sense it did in Minecraft and Terraria... :)

Don't forget about the boats, really though, I would like to know some specifics. One potential problem with vehicles is that the price of repairing them will give net zero gain over not using the vehicle at all, though there is higher risk of losing more capital.

For crafting there are 3D printers for everything and the fuel it uses is currency. What I wanted to know is if, per say, I wanted to craft 10000 blocks of a certain type could I set up some sort of system where I could just mine the resources and let automated system take care of the crafting. I suppose not, but maybe in a mod.

Now that I think about it, is there only 1 type of pixel? If so, would that mean you need to get stuff to turn into pixels to get better equipment. Which would kind of seem like a shop which would function in the exact same way...

  16. Boats may be more an Interactive Item than an Vehicle... I believe that there may be several kinds of Pixel, Pixel is the name of the Currency only. :p

Okay I really need to get my computer fixed before this comes out. Spending summer in a dark room with snacks, here I come!
