Ok, When a person writes a book, they want a good and easy to follow intro don't you think? As long as there's a good intro people will probably read the whole book. I think it's the same with this game, if the beginning is easy enough for new people and gets much harder as they progress won't mind dying multiple times. If they die multiple times right in the beginning I think it would give a bad first taste of the game
They nerfed HP/def too much. -90% time required to kill it. That's just too much.. you don't even have to dodge it anymore since it dies within a few mins.
I can't see the balance here, I got the game yesterday and was pretty shocked the iron weapons did that much damage but COME ON! After the patch, 3-7 Damage? REALLY? Yet the monsters are doing over 20+ damage with iron armor and I'm doing a pity 4 damage every second. I heal faster than that! Jeez, at least bring the weapons back up to 12-17. So I'm just 10 tiers below every one and I don't even know how they did it that fast. If pushing the weapon's damage up a bit will cause bugs or glitches, I really can't see a way for me and other late players.
You have a point there. I am not talking about making the UFO do more damage but maybe allow it to take more hits. We will have to see if it gets any changes ether way. If it stays how it is now I won't be put off by it ether way.
Opposite is true as well. If you get spoon fed too much at the beginning it might drive players away. There are so many games with flat difficulty curve: they start as easy and even the final boss ends up being a free cake.
You didn't give the update a chance. Although damage got nerfed, enemy hp got as well (from 100 to ~30). With current damage it only takes a few seconds to kill enemy. Do you seriously want enemy killing to take nanosecond?
Once the game is finished I am likely going to spend most of my time building if I can loot the right things.
On the starbound official website if you click about it gives you the distinct feeling that the game is about and i quote "your own story of space exploration, discovery and adventure." I dont know about you but that sounds like a space exploration game, not a survival platformer.
