I should point out to everyone that game development, 'specially small company game development, is much more than actually making the game. Depending on how big the company is, they might have HR, QA, various leads, etc. doing their specific jobs, and on top of that, marketing, PR, reading emails and forums, trying to set things up for cons or something, and more. Stop acting like making a game is as simple as writing the code and being done with it. If that was true, games as buggy as Elder Scrolls would never get popular, and CoD wouldn't be nearly as obnoxiously large as it is.
Hmm.. we're all assuming the vague thingy is a hologram. but how about cloaking technology? astral projection? phase shifting? hallucinations after eating alien mushrooms? ok, so maybe not all of those are likely, but it wasn't said it was a hologram That repair bot is fun. but if its only function is to repair, what is he gonna do if you hurt his buddies? not repair you out of spite? True, but it does materialize, speak to you (or someone/something), and then vanish. As it was stated before, I'm hoping this is a way for players to communicate while on different planets/systems/etc. Send messages to players from your space ship, they go to theirs, and a hologram of your character shows up while they read the message. That's what I'm hoping... but who knows! It's vague!
I'm sorry if I sound annoying or if I sound like one of those people that go like "WHERES BETA A;RHTVARHIJ", but will beta be here before the 5th of october or possibly before the 4th? I'm just wondering cause this coming break I'm going to be heading somewhere with my family, and I'd like to play something fun on the laptop during the awful 14 hour trip in the car.
