Sorry if it's been posted! I'm sure many people want to build their houses ABOVE ground, however have had their bases demolished by meteorites. Simply add some block type that can 100% resist the meteorites. I would accept that some blocks can take ONE hit from a meteorite but my house still gets demolished with those blocks when 3 meteorites come down. If adding new blocks doesn't happen, than MAYBE add a way to add a "special resistance" to blocks at a crafting table. This way we could ALSO have our bases built out of ANY block that aesthetically pleases the builder! Any thoughts on this is appreciated. Thanks for reading! P.S. My buddy just built a GIANT intricate tree house and doesn't know about these meteorites yet. VERY excited to see his reaction when that shit comes down hahaha poor guy.
I approve of this suggestion. Why not ufll meteorite defences including ainti-meteorite turrets or sattelites and/or a meteorite shield that blocks an area around it. Make the more effective blocking emthods be obtaiend later.
Actually...why not make it so that you can craft meteorite blocks into meteorite-proof building blocks?
They are random, and somewhat few and far between. When I moved onto my planet there were no meteorites for 2 days (real time) and probably over 3 hours in game on that planet. I'm not going to go to a planet and stand there for 5 hours just to make sure no meteors come down. I don;t think you know what I'm talking about, though. These meteors are about 1/4 the size of your monitor. It's NOT really like a weather type, it's just a random event. Again I didn't have ANY come down for at least 3 hours game time, then I had 4 come down within 20 minutes of each other.
People have made so many complaints about these meteorites - which is completely understandable. I'd be completely blown away if the dev's didn't address the issue in some manner in the next patch. If they don't, it certainly won't be because they aren't aware of the issue. At one point, one of the dev's made a comment about not wanting players to lose time investment because it's really frustrating. They were talking about player/world/ship wipes, but the same loss of time investment holds true for a house that is obliterated by a freak meteor storm. Tiy posted that video last week of the dude who was happily building away when a GIGANTIC meteor blew his whole house apart and sent the player sprawling into the depths below. The guy screamed like a girl, and lolz were had by all. So surely, Tiy thought it was pretty funny, but recognizes the problem that people are having. I say just be patient guys. We all know its in development, so I wont insult you with a reminder (uh.. wait a minute). Have faith in the dev team!
I want to see that video. For the lols, and because I know the feels. I found my first large meteor just yesterday. Came out of nowhere in the middle of building at night and was suddenly in my face and scared the crap out of me. Then not ten minutes later a second large meteor showed up after I had thought I made a pretty good defense, it still popped up in my face a second time. Less started, but from that point on I dug deep and made my home underground.... And with a couple layers of Meteorite blocks spaced every other block to form barriers above.
I still say allow making Meteorite Bricks that protect everything behind them from being damaged by meteorites.
I can't really imagine a material that won't be obliterated by a huge chunk of flaming space rock traveling at a mile per second.
Actually, I think the Avian temple bricks can take a beating from meteors. I saw someone post that they're unbreakable even in boss encounters, but that's all unconfirmed hearsay.
Oh wow. Two meteors at once, he sure took a pounding. I wish the Navigator could see the chances of meteor spawns and meteor swarms, perhaps an upgrade able scanner system so eventually you can scan and determine exactly what a planet has to offer. Such as settlements, temples, ores, meteors, ect.
Yea a more detailed navigator would be awesome. It would make it possible to leave meteors in the game as is, but leave people the option to completely avoid them. btw, i saw your ship in the other thread. So awesome.
I know what you're talking about. I've experienced one, and now when my Floran beams home, he beams down into a giant crater. I've only experienced one other meteor since then (On that character), on a different planet.
maybe a anti meteor shower/chunk missile defense system? like a sam-site that would protect an area? either uses mass power generator (when this game starts to count power usage...) or missiles (built to refill your turrets as it should have a life bar like regular turrets, but also uses missile counts, much like furnace, you can put missiles in them... )
Yea I like this idea. I suggested some kind of missile defense system in another thread. Personally, I don't mind the meteors as long as I have some way to defend myself
Every planet has a chance to spawn Meteorites at about 1 - 10 percent chance. Moons, Asteroids, and planets with a meteor crater in the background have a chance to have a meteor shower at 10 - 25 chance. Just pay attention to your planet background and when meteors do spawn, teleport to your ship and they are instantly despawn.
