Hi, I have my teeth sunk into this game pretty firmly now, so I can be reasonably confident on giving feedback. I considered clogging the Suggestions forum with a billion separate threads, but I figured I'd throw a giant post down instead of spamming my opinions everywhere. I'll take a look at the Suggestions app in a bit.

Post-wipe, I've played both Avian and Apex to Impervium tier, which isn't saying a whole lot considering most of the game is placeholder at this point, haha. Currently messing around with a Hylotl, and skimming planets with my high-level characters looking for cool stuff.

Here's what I think about the game so far, I know that a few of the things are just echoes of what others have said before, and some are already planned for future updates, but I'd like to express my support anyway.

    Misc problematic stuff / criticisms
    • Poison does a huge amount of damage on mobs with 10-30 hp, but for the mobs with 1000+ hp, it does almost nothing. However, poison has a strange effect on mobs sometimes, if hit by poison while you're outside their line of sight, they will often get distracted and stop pursuing you. Haven't tried it with fire.
    • I really shouldn't be able to repair my broken diamond drill back to brand-new by using only 5 or so copper ore. It should take about 100, less for higher level ores, and 5 or so for diamond ore.
    • Petals shouldn't be chest loot, petals are practically worthless and disappointing to see in chests. Make them sold by merchants and stuff instead if you want them to be made more available without visiting a flower planet (which aren't even rare!) Also, I don't want to see throwing weapons that do negligible damage for the level of planet they're on.
    • Shotguns are still useless, they need more burst damage. Also useless are those bullets that split in two after a couple metres. Also, those weird guns which shoot bullets which travel in super slow motion for a few seconds before speeding up! What!?!
    • Trees should not grow on fine sand! It's really silly to see trees blink out of existence when the sand falls out from underneath them.
    • Mining out a matter block dispenser or status pod should do something other than make them disappear with no noise. Imo, make them really hard to mine out, so the player understands that they're not really supposed to do it.
    • God have mercy on the man who swings a Bone Hammer inside a ship with lots of filled chests on wood platforms.
    • Impervium tier armor sets look really disappointing, make them look cooler. In particular, the Apex/Avian hat looks silly and the Human set looks like a gimp suit (Well all the Human sets look pretty gimpy...)
    • First boss is over in < 10 seconds without ANY armor or weapons if you're lucky enough to score a handful of bombs in the chests you come across. Either reduce bomb damage or give the UFO some resistance against bombs.
    • Lightning uncommon weapons and Bone Hammer (and probably some of the other legendary weapons too) can still hit through walls and doors.

    Suggestions for additions / changes
    • Craftable guns, rocket launchers, lasers, plasma weapons, grenades, stunsticks. It's so silly to be using a super cool diamond drill to dig stuff, but using a club made out of bones as my melee weapon... (Offended Koala's plasma weapons are a good start!)
    • More explosives! Especially wired explosives. Nuking stuff from space is good too.
    • Directional melee attacks, why can't I poke my spear upwards?
    • One handed spear! As if you don't want to be a freakin Space Hoplite. Could divide spears up into Light and Heavy.
    • More exotic weapons (nunchaku, naginata, clubs and batons, tasers, maces)
    • Custom ammunition, I like how guns have infinite ammunition as it is, but perhaps they should be able to shoot special, consumable ammunition too.
    • If there is going to be ship upgrading, make the beginning ship about half as large as it is now. A refugee shouldn't have this really nice ship with enough space to fit everything they need (The avian one has a freakin million-carat diamond strapped to the back for god's sake)
    • Monster defense mechanic. Don't make dual machinepistols or dual lightning daggers (aka. death by a thousand papercuts) become the meta.
    • It doesn't make sense to build a robot and then kill it for parts you originally put in... How about some kind of item that points you towards a special planet that contains a boss dungeon (eg abandoned robot lab), or something? Something more story driven.
    • More incentive to dig down, all the possible ores shouldn't be just lying on the surface, where's the fun in that?
    • An item to regenerate energy faster (Apart from the really rare flower backpack), or heal it instantly?
    • More merchants. All travelling merchants i've come across only sell vanity clothes. I want to see more weapon merchants, specialised weapons merchants (eg throwing weapons), tech merchants, stimpack merchants, and utility merchants.
    • The ability to sell things to merchants. Whenever a merchant says "Buy or sell!", I say to him back, "You lying bastard".
    • How about some offensive techs? Very tech-focused characters should be like the "mage" class of this game.
    • Character leveling, stat points, stuff like that? Would be a good way to add differences between the races, and give characters a sense of ownership and uniqueness instead of a billion Impervium, dual grenade launcher/hammer wielding clones. Perhaps a skill or perk system similar to the Elder Scrolls or Fallout series. I think it would work well, these series are also open-world exploration and adventure games with a strong focus on gear tiering and random encounters.
    • How do I know how good a shield is? They need a stat of some kind! (I'm sure this is a common remark)
    • Where are the factories? I want to see more industrial stuff.
    • A real concept of item value would be great, but it's such an unrealistic goal. In Terraria, due to how easy it is to hack or spawn items in, items have no value at all except on servers in which you have to start a new character, and nobody plays on those. Could we have an optional server feature to block people who have used mods and cheats?

I agree with most of your post, but, I would like to say that a REALLY agree with you that crafting your own bosses is terrible, I think its really stupid. Also, I had the same idea about having to fly to thier planet to hunt them down and fight your way into their lair and defeat them. I would really like to see that.

about the Dyes. You actually do use those to craft the paint tool in later tiers

@Jason O, Think of it like this if it botheres you: You build robot for protection, Robot gains self-awareness and goes crazy.

Indeed you do. I figured there had to be a reason.

My friend actually did build the Inactive Robot thinking he could use it as a pet or something. You can imagine his reaction when it turned around and killed him hahaha

A blacklight? Like, a UV light? Could be used to detect rare resources or mobs which are only visible under UV somehow.

Possibly see through optical camulauged items such as chests. Just an idea.

But the whole point of killing the robot is to get its processor so you can manufacture the next crafting bench/starmap. This is rediculously counter-intuitive. Why wouldn't I just use the processor to begin with instead of building a robot around it first?

You see your robot protector has failed so what do you do? take back thar processer to get the table that helps you make a freakin grappling hook :p

gotto think outside of the boarders to make things make sense.

Also something I've been thinking of:

Higher tier craft-able weapons for instance still cost the same 5-10 bars, which take less than 2 minutes to gather and work perfectly to the end of that sector.

Is it wrong I'm a tad bit concerned you have 100+ hours ingame, in the short period the game has been out?

I'm surprised no one has actually pointed this out yet, but chapter 2 will likely explain why we build the robot.

If I had to hazard a guess, we build it to *be* the navigational robot. But we had the bright idea of putting the brain of something we murdered into it. It goes berserk, we're forced to destroy it, chalk that up to bad idea #19439148, and use the arms to build a table that lets us make the circuitry ourselves.

I have no way of explaining the dragon though. Either way, they've only put in "chapter 1" for the story and they've repeatedly said they're going to put the whole story in. It's a bit nitpicky to hover on an explanation for a robot when for all we know it could be a placeholder to allow us to progress tech/sector wise until the story is completed.

This might be a loose explanation but the dragon might have been something haseling your ship, and you noticed that it might have had some ship parts in it. who knows!

To be fair, the game came out after my final exams finished, so I had oodles of spare time to play.

The dragon annoys me, the community has repeatedly said they don't want magic in the game, but a undead skeleton dragon is somehow not magic?

As for the robot probably being a placeholder I agree.
