Yes, I'm talking about OVER the 1 Million Goals, that's asking too much, really unless some Trailers or amazing stuff is revealed!

 

Yeah! I mean totally. We wouldn't want all these "features" get in the way of development! The developers have to be fed! We can't bog them down with such overly complex ideas. That's blasphemy. Please.. Getting to choose any pet regardless of Race. Them's fighting words.

 

They listened, and roughly twice as many people said yes as said no. Not seeing a problem here.

Well given that there was never like an official limit to how long the pre order phase will last, as in direct date limit, I'd say most of these are for funsies and to reward the community with more icing on an already awesome cake. Remember guys, this is like a pseudo kickstarter here. We are funding the possibility of additional content that is produced by new people so it doesn't slow down the progress of the core game itself. Everyone has something different in mind for their own "perfect starbound" but the thing is, no one is gonig to get what they think is the perfect version of the game. We live in a time of overpopulation and compromises. Learn to compromise instead of just flaming the position of your "competitors" that we've seen in lots of other threads lately >.>

 

I hope so. I'd rather they sit on their thumbs and throw money at each other than throw more of these things out I can feel bad over.

 

I did expect something bigger for another $250k. Let's hope they roll that pet breeding / gene splicing idea into it.

It seems we have diverged slightly from the original topic of this tread.

Before it occurred, I did not have any idea what (if anything) would have been announced. What they choose as a stretch goal is entirely up to the developers IMNSHO, as they are the ones who must arbitrate what they think they can implement in a reasonable amount of time with their resources. We do not yet know the full potential utility of the starter pets either, other than being some kind of cute companion.

I can see getting to the 1 million goal; bit it all depends on how far away Beta is, as well as how many net new pre-orders can be wrangled. News and information about the game is still scarse, and until that changes the rare of net new pre-orders will continue to diminish I believe. Assuming the negative response from this goal does not turn them off from making another one, I would expect something either entirely cosmetic; or something else manageable within whatever timeline they have set for themselves. I do not think we will see any 'big' goals added (in the sense of major features) at this point.

A trailer is being worked on already, they will release it when it is ready. Likewise Beta will be released when it is ready; the cash from the pre-orders will only help[ ensure it is ready sooner rather than later, because the developers will be able to spend more time on development (and not have to work extra jobs to pay the bills).

No. I think the goals were implemented because they really would like the opportunity to add additional content to the game pre-launch. The release of the goals in the fashion they have done is simply a marketing gimmick like kickstarter stretch goals and the reveal of them can drive additional interest about the game when news spreads.

 

1mil for pets is ludicrous... i am almost sure we will not reach 1mil.

it should have been like 850k or something like that.
also 1mil goal should've been something way more awesome than that.
like derelict space stations as off-planet dungeons.

 

You know, I really think a lot of people were expecting the beta as the one million goal, but that just doesn't make sense, think about it:
"Give us a million dollars and we'll give you 3/4 of the game."
Anyone else see a problem with that statement?

 

The key word in his post was "Eventually". As in, he hopes that you can eventually get a pet not suited for your race. Silly people should read more.

I want pets to be almost entire cosmetic except for maybe small cute jobs like picking up things on the floor for you. c:


Also, i personally think that this stretch goal and any potential ones will be added to the game anyway after launch.

 

Hey guys, I have a great idea!
It's shutting up and appreciating the things you are given. They didn't have to put these goals in at all, but they did to show thanks. And right now, you're throwing that "thank you for pre-ordering and supporting this game" back at their faces.
The thing that annoys me is that you believe you are entitled to amazing stretch goals by pre-ordering. Wrong. All you did was buy the beta access and copy of the game.
You can cry and moan all you want, I really couldn't care less, but it's the fact that you guys are asking them to put in completely complex and over-the-top features, which isn't fair on the developers, as they just want to make a good game for us, the community, to enjoy and play. So next time you think about moaning, stop a second and think about how rude and selfish you are being.

 

Yes indeed it's better just END this "throw more money we add more", it will reach a point DEVs may not be able to do everything without delay the game. ^^

 

Starbound is going to be an amazing game and while some people might think that the 1 million goal could have been "bigger" I'm just surprised that they were able to think of anything extra to add at all.

 

what i'm noticing is that the community is going crazier and crazier about a beta release with or without these goals...
i won't be surprised if some heads explode in the next few weeks because they want the beta so badly

 

actually you get a base pet and customize it

 

I think when the trailer is released and people will have more money at the start of the next month (like me) there will be more pre-orders coming in.
So over 1 Million seems reasonable to me.
