I just think another goal would surely delay the game

A trailer requires no stretch funding to produce. It does nothing but benefit the game. You want their next stretch goal to be something that they fully intend on doing regardless to market Starbound?

 

I don't think any extra goals would delay the game. If they get more money they can hire on extra people to crank out such a minor goal, and the extra people could likely be used to get the game released sooner.

 

I don't think we need any more stretch goals. This isn't Kickstarter and they didn't need our money to produce the game. The pre-order exists primarily to allow us, the customers, to purchase the game early with a few perks while offering the creators the ability to focus on the project rather than splitting time with other jobs. Yes, our money will greatly speed the production of Starbound, but more people buying the game should not force them to add more content at release.

I think too many people are allowing themselves to enter the Kickstarter/producer mentality when this is a completely different beast altogether. Yes, the creators made it easy to make that mistake by using a format similar to Kickstarter, but it's just a pre-order. Let's not tack on any more crap to what they already need to finish. The stretch goals were going to be in the game anyways so anything added to the list is just going to bog things down and potentially delay the beta/release. Let's not even go into the amount of drama that the last stretch goal created.

 

They could hire someone else to make the trailer, but I do think that another goal is unnecessary, $1m is a lot, it should be more than enough to finish the game, with some cash left over. Like every one else is saying, I just wish to see beta.

 

I'm hoping for maybe a kind of trade system with NPC's and if that is going to exist then maybe have the ability to have ride able starter pets (i.e. horse, alien bird thing from avatar, etc.) and if not then maybe a way to build your own gun or armor over time like find parts scattered around places like if you go to a world with acid spitting frogs you can find a piece of armor that you can attach to your main chunk that gives 10% acid resist or a gun piece that does acid damage and eventually have your own set of customized armor that you made yourself and your own personal weapon that you also made for yourself... UGH idk just an idea I thought up good luck on starbound friends

 

Im kinda sad that so many people want there to be no more stretch goals because they think it will delay the game more, when that is just so far beyond false. Im glad they are from what it looks like not doing any more stretch goals, but for the reasons that people on this forum have been disgracefully rude about the "pets" goal. Stretch goals could have and are still capable of being done without adding a single ounce of development time to this game, and that rumor that any new goal = later game needs to be quashed; art assets CAN BE DONE WITHOUT ANY DELAY.

I'd like to formally add the idea of Randomly Generated NPC's (With random parts like arms / torso / legs / features / head / eyes) to the pool of stretch goal ideas, or ideas for the game period.

Also, planets with evolving beings, that eventually evolve into a greater species.

I really want a Spore-style monster creation process, don't know if it's already in the game though.

We should be able to examine the anatomy of each creature we capture in our lab and after getting some bio-materials required from different planets, we should be able to combine the parts of different creatures into something new. Not just a graphical change either, whatever properties the creatures whose parts were used will be transferred to the newly formed creature as well (with some limitations of course, probably something like a biomass limit you can't pass and each part has its own biomass value).

 

I would be glad if the 4th goal would be some nice video's about some still unkown features. It is something that won't really delay the devs in their work and we get to see something we can spend our time talking about it on the forums to kill our time. While we wait for the game of course. I would never like to push devs for an release date for something like this. This game is made by devs who really DO believe in the game. (something rare these days) Pushing for an release date would destroy its essence.
