really? i hope that i am misunderstood this, but because of someone thinking about getting kids in the game (with or without carnal intercourse), you denigrate those people with "virgins"?

 

No, I simply meant that Starbound will be full of people in their basement (or parents basements) for months on end, never seeing the the light of day playing Starbound non-stop when it comes out. I'm sorry you took it the wrong way.

This is a really fun idea and could open the door to many possibilities with mods if the vanilla system wasn't too in-depth. Optional, of course, so there is no real reason to oppose it. Obviously the system supports the mixture of features between multiple entities, so I don't see why it would be too big of a thing to comprehend. Especially given that the game has a complex NPC system already.

 

You people clearly never heard of space aids before.

Eh... I think that being able to have kids and raise a family in a game where we are supposed to kill aliens, explore planets, build massive structures, collect ancient fossils from space cultures as old as the stars, ect...

Having people run around saying "let us make bb's now!" would be uhh... No
But hey, I would be interested to see how much of the community actually wants something like this implemented
I would face palm pretty hard if something like being able to have sex and make babies was implemented into the game, but I guess if everyone else wants it...

 

The reason why I find this interesting, is because I don't see starbound as a SandBox game, I see this as universe within a computer. A feature like this would make the game feel more real, if that doesn't sound too odd.

You see a handful of people using it in Skyrim and Fable.

Because it gives the player a specific connection to the game.

 

I remember raging and taking it personally when Roman was kidnapped and I got that phone call from that scumbag Dimitri in GTA IV.
I actually said something like "goddamn ***** Dimitri, I'm gonna END you!" out loud. Now that's immersion.

And Roman was a lying, gambling sa*< of s4!7, but he was my lyingin, gambling sa*< of s4!7 In-game cousin.

I can only imagine how much I'd rage if anything happened to an in-game child of mine.
Totally love the idea. The sex part doesn't need to be explicit in any way, so no worries - it would be a really cool feature.

 

I've read quite a few other threads saying that these stretches are just bonuses and we should be grateful for whatever. If any Game Devs read this. I am grateful for the bonuses/stretches. This has simply developed into a discussion. Just saying its not suitable for a stretch as it could hold up the game as it's too big. Still could be an update though... right...?

Well, the new race, the fossils and even the pets must certainly take some effort and time to implement, but how much effort it really takes is something only the devs can really estimate.

With some suggestions we can be sure that they aren't doable because they ask too much, but the fossils thing must be rather a complicated thing to implement if you think about it.
The new playable race species probably not sooo much, because most of the whole code "infrastructure" should already be in the game given that there are already 6 other playable species. I don't imagine the option of having a kid would be any harder to implement than the whole fossil idea, though maybe a bit more complicated than a new race species.

 

With the title i thought you were asking us to stretch children
