1.0: What will you skip?

For those of us who've played a lot of the Nightly Build, I know at least personally there's a lot of early-game content that I am, shall we say, very familiar with by this point. I know for a fact that I have zero interest in ever entering the Erchius Mines ever again, and as much as I like Naru I don't really want to tussle with that giant spider... and don't get me started are bloody Dreadwing.

Even in Nightly I started to turn on cheats just to rush through a mission that much faster (well, and in nightly you sometimes didn't have a choice because you'd inexplicably become immortal until you beamed back to your ship). Anyways, I know 'been there, done that fatigue will kick in early, and I know I'll want to jump ahead.

So I'm asking you, long-time Starbound player: what, if anything, will you want a magic 'skip' button for when you start you five hundredth new Starbound character?

I dun think I'd skip anything, because yes I've seen the Erchius Mine a dozen times by now, but each time I go in it's with a new weapon set, and sometimes I'll have a sniper rifle, the one time I went in with a rocket launcher! Who knows, maybe it'll be with something else.

Nothing, I have friends that wish to experience the game and I'll be there every step of the way.

Most people want to start 1.0 with tier 6 gear (Which I'll never understand) but the fun is seeing and experiencing everything that has changed with people that help with quests, which is great!

I wouldn't skip anything. Since there are some things not required to do (dreadwing) I will be only doing that is my character would do that. Each time I create a new one, it will be a different character. I like at least giving them some distinction in how they progress and what they would do. I mean there is like a whole universe to expand, explore, exploit, raid, build, conquer, etc... You name it. For me it all depends on what I want my character to be. The erchius facility is just a stepping stone to get FTL, but doesn't mean I have to continue the storyline after that. I can just go my separate way depending on what I think of they did before the academy.

I don't completely roleplay each character, but i do put at least some restraint and thought into what actions each character would do. No matter what I'll just be having fun playing. Of course I am just easily entertained.... :nurutease:

I redid everything. Hell couldn't even get Lantern on a Stick now unless you make a special workbench for it first and even then you can't wear it when say going to the moon which is full of those ghosts now because you need the air supply thing.

The only time I mined was for core fragments (bad world gen) and for a few silver ores. For the most part I found everything I need on the planet surface or as loot.

Hell forgot to scan during the Erchius Mines so I went back to do so and got this. I seriously didn't even know this was a possible drop until now assuming it wasn't added with 1.0 of course.

I'm using the boss eye as a weapon. Not as powerful as it looks though which is a shame. Every time I play I always learn something new and with 1.0 most of the stuff is new, why would I cheat myself out of the experience?

Probably nothing. I MIGHT skip the tutorial for my re-created main character (in the avatar) since that setup ain't part of the backstory I have in my head for her, but then I'll play it with one of my re-created alts.

I don't get this mindset: I've beta-tested the Erchius mines enough, thank you, I have no need to wander through them with no surprises all over again until I've spent time away from the damn mission - say four, five years, maybe. After your sixth or seventh replay the lustre is gone - and frankly, I've always hated boss fights.

For me it is not really a mindset, it is just how I go about things. That and how I grew up with an overactive imagination being easily distracted and a bit flighty. So in essence I personally can watch and do repeatative things. Probably why I like more Anime than your average person; seeing tropes over and over doesn't bother me... Same thing can be said of any form of entertainment for at least myself. My mindset is just to at least entertain myself, and since I am easily entertained... Makes for an easily entertaining experience despite how samey something looks. My mind wanders a lot...:nuruwink:

I am very much like you in some ways, and being easily entertained is in most cases a good thing. I actually played about.... 10-15hours of Starbound a few days ago, and now I've completely stopped because I'm waiting to start fresh with 1.0! Can't wait, so much hype!

Well, among other things, I haven't played the Erchius Mission a bajillion times. I've been through it a few to gather up Blueprints, not enough to get tired of it.

And if anything, I'll be going through it in 1.0 in order to gather up Scans for my new character, and take a whack at that rare boss drop.

I'll try not to skip anything, but I might /spawnitem in a couple things to get past those annoying Outpost quests *cough cough coffee mission cough cough*

As for skipping I wouldn't skip anything the first time through with each character... sure I love the missions starbound has added and they are all pretty cool including trying to find all the secrets and getting the boss items but here is the part I would like to skip...

Skipping straight to the boss fight after the first play-though with each character, I'd love to farm a boss until I got their legendary item but I really don't want to trek though a mission I've already beaten with the new overpowered gear I've gotten since I beat it the first time. There is no risk just tedium to get a reward that RNG said I couldn't have when I beat it the first time.

I probably won't skip anything. Have not played it in awhile so that I am surprised by the changes.

I confess I might try to skip the tedium of collecting the first few ores if that's still a thing. That's a lot of long, slow, uneventful diggin' on a basic planet for a handful of copper. Yeck.
