Hum... monthly payments? no.

 

That's only for multi-player, single-player doesn't have monthly payments. Think though, Mojang will have to keep the servers up for everyone who plays while still making a profit. Also, I'm guessing you don't like MMO's.

 

The pay to play thing disappoints me as well. I already subscribe to WoW, and I can't afford both, so that just kind of eliminates me from ever being able to try it. I don't really enjoy gaming alone, so single player for me is just boring. I really hope they reconsider that before this game is done.

 

Who cares if fools think it is a rip-off. They will be the ones losing out on lots of fun .

I think we should just let it be, really. Ignore all those trolls. I really got tired of Terraria vs. minecraft flame wars. I MEAN COME ON PEOPLE! THEY ARE GAMES! It's like saying Call of duty ripped off camando, just because there's shooting in it! This is a ripoff of minecraft. Not terraria. And I'm sure people that have brains will see that starbound came out first anyway.

When I first heard about 0x10c this is exactly what I though. It's absolutely terrible! But it will only get worse if we keep arguing with these people. WE MUST STOP THE MADNESS!

 

Experience has shown that people are incapable of telling the difference between inspiration and blatant copying, e.g. nobody cares about fortresscraft but terraria was a total ripoff guiz

 

hes CONSIDERING a OPTIONAL monthly fee for the meta-verse feature, which well generate player influenced content in real time, someone has to pay for the servers to be up, you WELL be able to play just fine without this feature, which means even if he does decide to implement the monthly fee (not likely notch is great at pricing models) you won't have to pay it.

A good troll can use pretty much any subject to make people mad.

As for people who genuinely think it's a rip-off: They are just ignorant.

Well, I agree that calling Terraria a rip-off is childish. Terraria has some aspects from Minecraft, and Minecraft has some similarities with Infiniminer and Dwarf Fortress. No game is 100% original.

But we don't need to worry about trolls, 0x10c is not that similar to Starbound.

 

Calm down people.

0x10c was only just announced, and is probably even less ready than Starbound. When you look at the site, almost nothing is done yet.

 

I highly doubt that it would even be comparable. If you look at some of the current screenshots of it, it is nearly impossible to see any resemblance.

Once again, Notch is developing a game with downright ugly graphics and labeling it as "retro". Since when did ugly and retro become synonymous?

 

Lol 0x10c is a completly diffrent game There is no similarities between it and starbound except the fact that they both are sci-fi Its like saying that CoD ripped off Mario -,-

 

Every game with some building element to it will be compared to at least Minecraft at the present time. Currently it's the most well-known game of its kind, so comparisons are inevitable. Since 0x10c is a game made by Notch and it has to do with space, of course some people will see a game like Starbound--almost completely different in every way--as a ripoff of some sort because the makers are less well-known. Even despite the fact Starbound looks amazing and has great promise. The comparisons would die down if Starbound becomes a huge success and people forget about 0x10c.

If you like a game, then don't let petty arguments about it get under your skin.

Umm, I think those screenshots that are made in a blank room with coloured boxes are just for testing purposes. I doubt that someone can deduce much about the game from THAT. Maybe I'm wrong and the game really looks like that. But If that's the case, nobody will play it anyway!

 

Very possible. Nevertheless, the known graphics don't resemble Starbound's like how Minecraft and Terraria resemble. The game is very underdeveloped as of now. I have no doubt that Starbound will be released before 0x10c.
