Hi everyone, you know what is a stupid thing to say? "You're not allowed to be offended by X because the definition of X is Y." That's why it's called a trigger, it doesn't need to be logical. You can call it pandering, and you can call people over-sensitive if you want, but just know that you're essentially telling them the things they feel are wrong, and above consideration when you try to talk them out of how they feel.

Language changes meaning all the time, and words lose their sting over time because they are reclaimed. That's why people identify as queers, dykes, cripples, and so on, these days. Those used to be slurs. But the thing about reclamation is that it's not something to be done you unless you are a member of the marginalized group. When you inappropriately throw around words like retard, or the n word, you're not participating in reclamation, you're propagating the abuse of the words. For all you know, your use of the term is just serving as tacit consent for someone else to do the same.

Everyone has issues that they care about, and shit that upsets them. You can go on and on about what you're intentions were when you said the thing you said, but in the end that doesn't mean shit. If you offend someone, don't get defensive; apologize, stop doing whatever asinine thing you did, and try to see things from their perspective. This is a fucking society; we have to get along, and unless you're okay with people stomping disrespectfully all over everything you hold dear, then please, wake the fuck up.

Like it or not, we affect the lives of those around us. It's intellectually lazy to assume that your words exist in a vacuum, and that your intention is what is most important in personal communications. No one knows what you're intentions are, and even if they do, it probably won't make a lick of difference to how they feel about anything. Life is making mistakes; people say stupid shit all the time, it doesn't necessarily make you a bad person. But the the thing is, you're supposed to learn from that stuff and try to not do it over and over again. Remember that pop-culture definition of insanity? Yeah.

I expect more from you people; more understanding, and none of this intellectual laziness and callous indifference.

I know. Macs are terrible for gaming. I also know Wineskin, Cider, and bootcamp exist. I just can't be arsed to spend 100-something bucks on windows.
