I'm using this
It's a very good 2D game making engine.
It uses html5, but you REALLY don't have to know anything about html5 to use it, since it uses a damn well made block coding system (similar to game maker)
If you are familiar to algorithms, you should definitely give it a try, I'm sure you can work some miracles, even with the free version!

ah, btw, in case you wanna take a peak on the game I'm working on...

 

can you actually make money with it? have you checked out the terms of service?

nop, you can't monetize with the free version... that's why i use the personal version instead :whistle:
free version = can't monetize out of it, 4 layers per room, and the whole game can only have 100 events
personal license = fully functional, but you can only monetize up to US$5000 with it
business license = fully functional, fully monetizable

Yup, it's capable of making games for the web (native html5), desktop (windows XP, vista, 7, 8, linux and mac via node webkit), mobile (android, iOS and windows 8 mobile via cocoonJS) and it has integrations with some game websites, chrome store, firefox marketplace and facebook
