This is how alerts work.
When somebody replies to a thread, it alerts you once for that reply. It won't alert you again until you go back to that thread. It's not the alerts. They work fine. It's you.

I say you should be able to edit your alert system.

That sounds like something the game would try to do.

I do get lost often, but it's never really had lethal consequences so far.
