I still find it so weird you guys have to apply to college in the US - don't you get some kind of exit grade from school or anything? I couldn't imagine having to read through thousands and thousands of applications every year.

Let me tell you something about school in the US.
Schools give 0 shits about you. Schools are not there to help you learn. Schools exist to make you into a money producer for the government.
They don't care if you're working in a factory or if you're working in whatever career you want to, either way, they're getting money.
