They will still be mad, you will need to be the Bell Tower Gargoyles and talk to the pardoner guy and request your sins to be cleansed or something. but then any friendly npc you angered will be nice again. And don't forget, a divine weapon stops things like Skeletons form respawning.

Try black fire-bombs, or be human and look for summon signs around the area, it's a popular spot for them. or bait him onto the bridge and find a way to push him off.
