I decided to try pixel art myself. Mostly because not being able to draw is a huge handicap in so many situations. And since i need some help and feeback i came here. Of course i'll be posting only creatures connected to starbound(my ideas of possible creatures mostly) So, i decided to try drawing an idea i had for a long time. Here goes: The Jester Prince of Autumn(NPC?) Found in a forest biome. It should be a very rare creature. P.S. His hands are supposed to look like that since he is made of vines. 1. 2. 3. Darkflame Ghost(enemy) So, how is it? Pleeeease tell me if it's good/bad and what should i improve.
Thank you, i'll try to do that next time. After i considered it i think i know the direction at which i should move. Now i will only need to work alot. The next time i'll post something like tis will be when i have something that i think is presentable. But now that i think i know in which direction i should move... I can draw on paper using a pencil pretty well, but pixel art is something completely new to me. I added the large version by the way. Which one is better, the Jester or the Ghost? If i know it might help me show which way should i try making them
You're great for a beginner in pixel art! I'm a newb at pixel art. The color outline and the lines could be a little cleaned up though. If you're using Microsoft Paint, you should save in .png, it helps a lot!
First thing first, is NEVER SAVE AS .JPEGs with pixel art, it messes up resolution and what its suppose to look like, save it as a .png. You also need to shade, and natural poses and line art. I made a little shading tutorial: That's a pretty bad shading tutorial I put together. You also need to have a less 2-D aspect, make the image have as much depth as possible on a flat computer screen. I hope this helps and doesn't sound mean
I think you would get a lot out of this thread. Nice art for your first try. Practice, practice, practice and you'll be great one day.
Thank you all! I think i might be able to improve with all that help. I'll read those tutorials and practise a little, then post my best attempt...
Good start, practice makes perfect...or a nuclear expl....actually ummm yeah never mind just practice...with anti-corrosive gloves
