A few small changes to make turrets useful again:
No shooting before aiming. With a little help from Peasly and healthire I got them to not fire before they actually lined up for the shot so they don't use up 90% of their energy before they could even hit.
They also don't break into pieces anymore when taken down but instead drop themself, given that you now need to supply them with a gun before they're useful I thought that the loss of the platin wasn't that reasonable anymore.
Especially not when trying out placements for whatever you're building.
Installation: unpack the .zip into "Starbound\mods"
Useful note: turret range is 50 (not modified) and is measured in blocks, meaning 50 blocks is the max range in which turrets will see enemies.
