Less grinding and dying on your first planet

  1. circlejourney
    Get it on Steam!

Sick of mining aimlessly for hours on your first planet? Frustrated after starving to death for the fiftieth time? This mod is dedicated to making the early game less of a grind, while retaining a similar challenge level. You shouldn't have to play five hours to get to the good bits!

    • Craft a weak ranged weapon at the basic anvil with wood, plant fibre and iron bars
    • Quicker mining - Matter manipulator breaks blocks 50% faster
    • Volatile powder can be crafted from flares
    • Broken Broadsword is slightly sharper - now you have a fighting chance against nighttime mobs!
    • No more rushing on the first day - start with a sleeping bag, salves and seeds in your ship locker
    • Build faster - logs are broken down to 8 timber blocks instead of 5
This is my first mod, so all feedback on balance, bugs etc. is deeply appreciated!

Lovely, it does exactly what it says on the tin. Games are meant to be enjoyed, especially a large sandbox one such as Starbound, so avoiding the obnoxious slog of the starting planets is a time saver and enhances the experience.

While it may be a good mod for those who struggle, the majority of players who get to the modding phase of their experience are not liable to struggle on their first planet at all even with bad luck. So to summarize, good for beginners, pointless for everyone else.
