Arm Cannons 1.0.1, Pleased Giraffe

Adds randomly generated, chargeable arm cannons to the game.

    Currently broken in Glad Giraffe. It may be a while before I can get this running again.

    They're not just firearms, they're firing arms!

    Until new features are able to be added (probably the big combat update coming Soon™), this might be the last update for a while. Enjoy!

    Chargeable for powerful alternate attacks!
    80 gun parts to randomly generate arm cannons from!
    5-21 (depending on rarity) color schemes! Vanilla guns only use 4-5!
    A wide variety of standard and charged attacks!
    One-handed, so you can pair them with a shield, weapon, tool, or even a second arm cannon!
    Charge indicator on the cursor! (Note: a right-click arm cannon will not have a charge indicator)

    Including a final crafting tier (tier 6, comparable to ferozium craftable guns) crafted at the Replicator: Randomly Generated Arm Cannons capable of any combination of attacks! Currently that's 150 combinations!

    Known Issues and notes:
    Most of the charge shots are custom projectiles. attempting to use an arm cannon without the mod installed could cause crashing.
    I plan on making a vanilla-friendly version once Chucklefish builds full support for chargeable guns (with appropriate damage increase and possibly energy cost) in vanilla. But If that never happens, they'll remain like they are now, with lots of custom projectiles.

    Charge indicator only works on left click... If it helps, charge time is 1.0 seconds.

    Still no charge particle on the cannons themselves, I don't think they can be added to randomgen guns. UPDATE: Apparently they're going to put animations on things like rocket launchers for arming times, a charge animation may eventually become reality.

    Everything is running pretty smoothly now. So, enjoy. Leave feedback if you wish.
    The arm cannons do spawn in chests.

    If you lack the patience to hunt or just want to try them out, you can spawn one in /admin mode with (one of these based on desired rarity, xarmcannon are always going to be very random):
    /spawngun # armcannon
    /spawngun # uarmcannon
    /spawngun # rarmcannon
    /spawngun # xarmcannon

    Where # is the power level you desire (1-10 should work, currently the game progression seems to go to tier 6).

    Current Plans, in no particular order.

    Balance, bugfixing and projectile tweaking as needed.
    Waiting for extra functionality to be added to randomgen guns. Such as animated parts, charge particles, charge multipliers so I don't need to rig weird ammo, etc.
    Works with Healthire's Gun Assembly Mod (http://community.playstarbound.com/resources/gun-assembly.2125/),but will render the arm cannon incapable of charging up, this is not something I can fix, but some of the attacks work very well in spamming auto-fire mode.

      From all of my testing it is completely multiplayer friendly. However, it does (like most mods) require the server and every player involved to have the mod.
      If you're asking for a vanilla friendly version, I can't do that, as that would require modifying an existing gun type to have extra properties, rather than adding my own (and the modified gun wouldn't do extra damage on charge shots).

    This mod is awesome. I assume the coding for the weapons are similar to the unobtainable weapon "buster".

      Similar, yes. But Buster uses charge modifiers that don't want to work on randomgen guns (which causes a slew of oddities I have to work around).

    Sweet mod! The arm cannons have pretty unique sprites and the special charge effects are quite satisfying. Also, just for shits n' giggles, I threw it into my Gun Assembler and I found out that I could even deconstruct and customize them! Sadly, this seems a bit bugged, as the cannons lose their special charge ability upon being put back together. Nonetheless, a very good mod, and I recommend it to anyone who would like an extra gun type in their lives!

      I've also put out a Vanilla Gun Activator mod if you want more gun variety! And I may or may not be working on a one-handed shotguns mod. . . >.>

    I've solved the problem , sorry for the bad rating! Great mod, but you have to improve the damage of the cannons for each tier.

      Although they can't auto-fire, they have the same damage scaling as pistols, and are also one handed.
      Try using two of them, and charging both (and hope you don't have one with nineshot, that is a terrible attack except against bosses). :)

      I did have higher damage on them in earlier versions, but the charge shots were decimating EVERYTHING.. And since it's impossible (afaik) to make the charge shot cost more energy, I can't really increase the damage again or there is no reason to use any other gun.

      Of course, since they're generated, some will naturally be weaker than others. Rank 6 arm cannons are pretty effective on tier 6 worlds, and we don't even have the nightly changes yet, which makes guns amazing.

      After the big patch finally hits, if they are underpowered, I'll adjust the mod.

      Any vanilla charge shots are basically placeholders, but I'll probably keep a modified version of the boulder since it IS kinda cool.

      New update coming "Soon™", trying to get some custom projectiles setup for legendaries so they won't be so randomized.

      An icon/logo for the mod.
      I can't gif or I would make a couple of those for some of the custom projectiles..

      But either way I still feel like I have a lot of work to do before I pretty-up the page.
