Happening to me on the starter planet, so not just arid. (multiple beam-downs get past it)
Currently it's tied to holding the "down" button and pressing jump. Continuing to hold the down button will continue to send you down... down......
Did anyone suggest writing a custom patching program to download and update the game as an option 4? would only take a day or two to code one up....
