Try starting the OpenGL version.. it helped me for a lot of bugs/crashes..
The most crash fixes got solved by starting the game with the steam library.. and choose "Run Safemode"
yea.. but if a big wipe is coming.. the whole character gets deleted.. so this won't help
just jking... but we should prepare ourself :P

it's actually working better than i thought... before that.. it used to crash very often during planet change or teleporting.. now its working fine :)
