well, perhaps I exaggerated, but it is not unheard of.
example, this was a mural made with permission at a school I believe.

Someone painted it over and wrote "highest form of autism -Anon"
but, the group who painted the mural worked to get it cleaned off without damaging the mural, it was going well last I heard.

Yeah honestly I prefer english units for measurement most of the time but I do find it rather silly that we Americans are like the only country to use both english and metric. >.>
