What are your favourite Sci-fi melee weapons?

But seriously, I really want claws. Every good game has claws. Starbound won't be good without claws.

 

Daggers are left out or marginalized in too many games. Let's see some high-tech combat knives with fluid, agile attacks.

e: Would it be too gauche to include boomerangs a la Terraria?

I think beam claws would be a great addition to the game. A weapon type that is claws would be even better! By the way something like beam claws not the exact thing!

 

Sword Chucks?

Being serious now, we should obviously have the classic lightsaber. I also want to see some sort of a massive claw. Or a pair of smaller claws.

 

I like claws, too.

Not sure why, something kinda powerfully smexy about them- they are an extension of your own body, and always thought they would be a lot more controllable and natural to use than a blade/club/chainsaw/etc. And, they just look awesome, even if they aren't actually part of your skeletonal structure. *cough yourwelcomegals cough*

Me? I prefer a good old sword. Cant ever go wrong with a lightweight soul-drainer.

Oh god, anything like Halo 2's Type-1 Energy Sword would be the greatest thing ever.

if there is a good mix of melee weapons then there would be allot of people whom would prefer play with them. Im Going to suggest the Power fist from WH:40K. another 40K suggestion but its a good one.

 

I want to see daggers, claws, whips (like plasma ones or something), and chain swords and all of them really sci-fi like.

How about the Ballistic Fist from Fallout?
Basically a metal glove with a pressure plate that activates a shotgun on top.

 

I would like to see a sword that some what looks like this one.
