Modding Help Dog and Cat AI

I realize this may be a dumb question.
I just wanted to know if there are differences between the AI for dogs and cats, or if it's just the spritesheet that makes them do different things.
But I wanted to know if it would be possible to, say, switch the sprites for the dog and cat and still have them behave the same?

 

You could. Your cat would bark though.

Yes, there are some AI differences, nothing major, but they do exist.

 

Someone pleaaaaaase mod ability to have multiple breeds of the same pet ;-;

 

Not going to be possible until we have FarmHand, there is no way to keep a fixed breed assigned to a pet currently.
