Future Suggestion: Maybe upgrade to Store Shield-Generator on Ship - alla Star Wars Would make crazy addon to Shipfights (I ment Shield Generator for Planet on Ship, but a Shieldgen for ship would be fun too i gues, didn't mean it that way though - just making sure)
Would it be possible to tie the shield generator object to an inventory tool where you could effectively "paint" which tiles of your bases and structures are tied to it? And by paint I don't mean literally paint it. Just maybe like an overlay similar to the wiring tools overlay that appears over the tiles when the tool is selected.
This was a long time coming. I just wish the dungeon monsters were a bit more interesting. But one step at a time. Still waiting to see status effects moved to lua - as i am courious to see what these status effects like "brain fried" really do. Since as of now it is simply a magic word with hard coded function.
I just wanted to give you guys some encouragement. I've noticed allot of ignorant hate being directed at Chucklefish. It's infuriating to see some of the prejudiced crap coming out of the hands of some of these people. I've been making a game by myself for the past few years, and I have less than %1 of %1 the content you guys do, so I have first hand experience at the difficulties of independent game development, and I just have to say that you guys must have put in allot of effort to get this far in the amount of time it took me to get raw mechanics and a mesh-based game world with no detail. You have a game that could be released as a fully featured title! Anywho, I digress. Block protection was indeed a long time coming, you guys have been talking about for awhile, and I'm pretty excited to see it finally make it in.
Finally some protection - no more Starbound Transmitted Destruction(s)going around. Remember kids, protect your dungeons or you may end up having the Risk of Raining Crabs.
I'd like to make it apply to individual players' creations, but that won't be in this iteration. Hopefully in the future! This ^^^

Well, as everyone knows, there's only two hardest things in computer programming--cache invalidation, naming, and off-by-one errors. I suggest you rename "dungeon id' to something along the lines of "owner id" or "tile owner id" or something. Since you yourself already stated it's a misnomer. It'll be less confusing in the long run if things other than dungeons have a "dungeon id" property.
I like that protection concept. I always thought it would have been nice to have something close to that idea with player buildings, but working in a given amount of radius instead of "linking" it to an ID.

Seeing this I'd like to make a little note. While I have enjoyed most of the dungeons without any need to break any blocks, I (personally) state that the apex challenge dungeon is an exercise in frustation. A few times I have tried to complete one in it's entirety without removing/placing blocks, and I have always been killed by the lightning. And when it's a 60 second walk to get back from the teleport spot, another 30 sec to get back to where you where (assuming you dont get killed), it gets frustrating FAST. I dont feel like the controls (and the jumping) are accurate enough to make for good platforming. One thing that could reduce the frustration significantly would be some way to teleport directly back to the dungeon after death; some sort of teleport node that could be placed at the dungeon entrance so that we wont have the 1-5 min "walk" to deal with after each death. I'M sorry if I seem overly negative, but that apex dungeon has been bugging me for a while. I like most other dungeons, and most are manageable without any drilling (though without the ability to create block cover, Floran Hell will become very difficult to get through) and I love the game, but they could use some work. Anyway, I'm still running enraged koala, so maybe the nightly builds have changed something. Have a nice day!
I don't tunnel. I matter manipulate and cover all the electrics with a layer of dirt.[DOUBLEPOST=1412097203][/DOUBLEPOST]The way I see this, each "shield generator" could project a "bubble" specifying the radius of the shield. Each shield generator increases tile HP by X%, each generator side by side increases radius exponentially further by %Y with a maximum of %Z generators side by side. So you could make unprotected tunnels as escape routes by carefully positioning the generators. Other components or materials might strengthen generator output (switches wired to computers?) so eventually one generator could protect as strongly as 3 side by side without increasing generator radius, allowing for the escape tunnel to "remain". If that makes sense.
The way he describes it, it seems like it'd be super easy to add user placed generators for their blocks on planets. You'd need to think of anti-griefing measures, but it has a ton of potential.
Very nice, this way dungeons will give the game a adventure spirit. Also, i can''t find core fragments without admin commands. The crafting system buttons is not sorting the itens, i try with my intuition to usescrollbarl in the menu but he didn't work. When i scroll the crafting sysyem i wish i can sort the itens by material type (stone itens all together) or item type (pickaxes all together). Wish the bed has a commando to passs the night and the shift button make me sneak at monster with bonus damage. I'm loving the game and all your work. The art work is awesome and make all other related game feels generic. I also say that the chuckelfish team had something that others don't have. A identity. Love you all guys. In the dungeons, wish i can break lights with my bow and stealth the mobs. I have a ranger like playstyle. I like to explore, build a shelter, survive, seek for medicide herbs and alchemy.
