I have just woken up. I know a good bit of us live in my timezone, so there's that. Do you have a dA account?
http://www.fimfiction.net/group/199074/flarity/thread/34410/flarity-prompt-tag#comment/2959347 I wrote a random drabble about pones and shipping. Just felt like sharing.
Hey guys, I need a question answered. I've been all over the internet and nobody has been of help, so I thought I would come here. My question is, When standing on the surface of Discworld, when looking in the proper direction could you see the giant turtle's fins move up and down as it propels itself through space? The question is waaaay to specific for Google to answer and I don't have an account anywhere where somebody might be able to answer me, so I turn to you with your horribly limited knowlege for help.
I'd remark on your unflattering statement there ( ) but you'd be right; I have no idea what the answer is, as I've never read Discworld. I've encountered a few people on Fimfiction that do, but I can't remember their names at the moment. I suppose finding all of the books in a digital format to scour it that way is out of the question, so at this point you'd need to rely on someone else's encyclopedic knowledge. I think the fellow I preread for or another fellow I've talked to have mentioned reading it, so I'll ask them next time I talk to them.
Right. I'm just a bit curious, as I stumbled across the franchise's page on TV Tropes that looks like this: and considering the position of the fin the first thought I had was "Can you see that thing from the planet's surface?!" and the second "What happens when it bats the sun?"
Well, light reading told me that it might be a more considerate gigantic life form, so maybe it would avoid doing that? But I presume that it depends on the atmosphere of Discworld, if there IS any. And I also consider that the artist's rendering doesn't perfectly match TP's own ideas, but that's not a huge hurdle.
