99.99% of the time, nothing at all
The Helix fossil can be turned into a pokemon later in the game, and the ticket lets you on to the S.S. Anne in (fuchsia or vermillion? can never remember).
But they always end up near the top of the item list. When buttons are spammed so much, you tend to have a lot of helix fossil and ticket being used.
Followed by the usual message from Oak.

And the funny thing is
Excluding the absolute newest stuff (such as Google Fiber), even fast internet in the U.S. is slow compared to the averages of quite a few other countries.
Hong Kong averages 75.2 Mbps down/60.2 up

EDIT: The U.S. is 33rd in download speed and 41st in upload speed
