Idle animations would give the game yet another layer of polish. Honestly, I would be somewhat surprised if they weren't in the game by release.
Ya, maybe they could add a simple one where your characters eyes close and their head slumps down a little, and little Z z z... pop up above their heads. Just so you know they're afk.
For post release it would be definatly a neat little addition. But there is no hurry, there are more important things to focus on first. Anyways, i like it
I like this idea, but as mentioned, it's something that can be saved for postrelease. Don't want to give the artists and devs too much extra work for stuff that isn't mechanically important (even if it's pretty.)
That would be neat. Some more AFK quotes for waking up: "I'm hungry. Were did I put that jerky?" "Zzz... Uh, I'm awake!" "Is something watching me?" "Uh... Where's the snooze button?" "*yawn*" I reckon directly fourth-wall shattering quotes (actually referencing the player) is a bit much, but some slightly 4th wallish comments would be fun. "I dreamt that I was a character in a game. Dunno why."
I approve of this suggestion, and also suggested a different, but related mechanic incorporating idle animations here http://community.playstarbound.com/index.php?forums/mechanics.25/
I'd like to see that actually, even if it's something as simple as the Populous 3: The Beginning idle animations
I think a few standard animations for this would be nice, such as the player-character looking around him/herself, the character tapping their foot, or bending down to tie a shoe (given the race could wear shoes, of course).
Wouldn't they have used wireframes to animate the armour sets, so then they just make new wireframe animations, apply it to existing armour, and clean the animations up?
I have to bump this. But also maybe some animations for items and scenery too? Just think of it, your endless field of wheat gently swaying in the wind, while eyeball plants blink at you.
