What are your favourite Sci-fi melee weapons?

Yayz for long range Glowy melee weapons.
More bows, that's actually nice. I mean once you've got you steel bow, you already found better fire arms...
The only reason to keep it around is to not keep it is because it makes curved shots.

Well anyways: Most favourite sci-fi melee weapon? Chain Sword from Dawn of War and the Powerfist from fallout.

First because its a chained sword... 2nd because you can fist enemies to dead.. that sounded wrong... you basicly can crush cars with your bare hands with them...

Also didnt know that a bow... or a gauss rifle... or a laser rifle is a melee weapon :O

You're not the only one to wonder if long range weapons were melee.
Well, if you can whack someone with it, it is melee, isn't it?

 

Figured that... specially the gauss rifle from earlier... touch the capacitors when they are fully charged... and you are toast haha

 

I'm partial to the lightsaber, but there's also mega buster type weapons that charge and pain sticks.

 

Energy Sword
Takes down a spartan in 1-2 hits
Plus it looks pretty damn cool

Might not be Sci-Fi.. But I sure as hell want it.

 

To be honest, ANY weapon from that series would be awesome, but I'm more partial to the Staff - nunchotgun combo.

 

I think these would belong as in the beginning considering crash-landing setting:
1. Metal Bar Debris - Starter Sword
2. Screwdriver - Dagger
3. Crowbar - Short sword/mace
4. Pipe wrench - Long sword/mace
5. Metal Rod - Spear/staff
5. Shovel - Spear
6. Hatchet - Axe

Mid-game craftables :
1. Chainsaw (either weapon or axe replacement)
2. Katana
3. Taser
4. Gun-blade (I see these as mele-only with extra damage from the gunshot being part of strong attack vs regular swing weak attack)
5. Icepick - can also be an accessory that allows clinging to vertical walls (before grappling hook)
6. Steam weapons requiring use of Coal as fuel.

Other late game weapons as the player's technological capabilities evolve:
1. Nano-wire.
2. Anything light-saber-like (with burning effects)
3. Power hammer/glove/sword/axe (with knockback)
4. Cryo-weapons (slowing/freezing effects)
6. Weapons that require use of Nuclear Rods as fuel

 

A plasma whip would be pretty cool

And all kinds of "High-Tech-Swords" (blades powered with energy etc)

 

Dota 2's Elder Titan's Briefcase Staple Gun thing. No idea what it is but it looks pretty cool.
