Hi everyone! This is my first time doing an RP other than a few games of D&D. So here's my intro. I hope it inspires others.

Written by: Lyra (Tangle Thorn) Dodger - Floran.
This is the beginning to “The Colony”.
    The Colony - Lyra's Accord
    - 1 Population (Myself)
    - Tech level - 1 wood, coal fuels, iron tools (workbench, furnace and anvil techs)
    - Systems owned - 1
    - Territories - to be updated.
    - Fleet strength - 1 original transport

    Journal entry #1
After leaving my home in search for a greater meaning in life, other than just stabbing everything, I had decided to make it on my own in the universe. I needed to leave behind the tragedy leading up to my escape but after many years adrift and planet hopping I tired of the solo adventuring life. I could not find the longing that was inside me. I needed this exploration and was grateful for the experiences and acquaintances met along the way, but there was still this lonely feeling. Perhaps I could create my own clan, no… a community. Yes! That sound much more exciting and it would be an opportunity to show others that not all Floran are savages.

Journal entries #2-7 (Thoughts and progress?)
I started with a simple transporter ship and some basic tools. I searched, hunted and gathered all I could with this community in mind. The first four planets were a flop.
    * The first planet had fauna that were too aggressive to tame. (Lived 7 months)

    * The second planet already had a colony of my kind on it, nothing but war would come of that place. (Lived 6 months)

    * The third planet was too barren. Sure there was an atmosphere but nothing was alive. (Lived 3 months)

    * The fourth planet, well it was more of an outpost, but it was already well established. (Lived 2 months)
A year and a half has gone by and still I have nothing. I needed something fresh. Something I could sculpt from a new beginning with friends.

    Journal entry #8
    Planet 5 (The shroomy planet)

Day 3: Have I finally found it!? This planet gives me the good feels in my roots. There’s plenty of wooded area and life is strong here. The fauna seem manageable for basic hunters and I’ve located a fresh water stream.

Day 5: Today’s exploring has revealed another race, some mushroom people! They are lenient towards my presence and speak in a way I don’t understand but I believe I can win them over. We shared food and trade goods. It was such a reprieve to have a first impression where they don’t flinch when I try to shake their hands. It feels good to not have someone be angry or scared of me when they first see me. I think I could make this work.

Day 7: After some research I found little about the mushroom people. They are the Agaran and were named by Greenfinger. Some rumors say they are mutated Floran but, from what I can see they are their own, they are not Floran.

More importantly I need to focus on building the colony. My camp is far enough away from them that I shouldn’t have any land issues. The foundation and my residence will be my first task.

Hi. The Kingdoms RP will be restarting when 1.0 comes out. For now, feel free to RP the remaining time. Learn things, post things. :)

Would I have to scratch that character & start over? :(
I mean, it's fine if I need to. I just have attached myself to this character is all. :p

So is this forum getting scrapped? Should I still post character's journal entries here (and pictures)?

You can keep the same character and all that.

You do need to start a thread to post your updates though. This thread is reserved for news, questions and things tying all out stories together. Just look at some of our other participants for ideas on how to set that up :)

I have one more post coming - hopefully posted before Friday.
I actually did the leg work a few weeks back but haven't had time to "RP" and post it.

So excited for 1.0 and what it may bring to my colony.
Trying to conceptualize a transition from current colony to a brand new 1.0 colony. Not sure if that will happen or not.

I'm excited too. I want to build an empire from humble beginnings and never stop expanding it. With no wipes, this time I'll keep the thread alive. :)

But first I'll check the story and wait for my favorite mods to be compatible.

    Oh yeah. Mods.

That will give me time to conceptualize what happened to the Valiant.

Can't wait to get my paws on it.

"The town will grow as more people generate (via colony deeds)" Are we to only use the colony deeds given from quests? (Aside from the first one, to start it)
Also, is there a minimum size for a house? Or just enough to fit all the basic furniture? (Bed/table/chair/container)

    ~Dear diary,

I'd have hoped to have enjoyed being part of something greater for a bit longer, without immediately getting my paws wet in this sea of troubles that befell the Earth. As comfortable as the bench may be, simply napping or sitting and staring at the lamp, hypnotized, won't make the problems go away. Might as well make the most of it...
Took inventory of my meager possessions, was not impressed.

*One standard Matter Manipulator, unmodified. Will have to figure out a way to tweak it, or find someone who can. Travel might be difficult, with the engine likely being busted, I can't tell. Door is jammed.
*One sword with the size more fitting to a stage play, to make sure everyone sees it, bulky and requires both paws. I can only hope I'll manage with it until I acquire a lither weapon of choice.
*One standard battery powered flashlight. It only lasts up to 8 hours, but fortunately that can be recharged at the ship.
*Four cans of standard rations, while enough to last a week each, used VERY sparingly, but generally not something I'd want to eat for more than a few days anyway, really, would not recommend.
*Ten very basic torches. No I don't mean a flashlight, actual torches. I understand starting from the bottom of technology tree, but come on. At least I'll be able to see something in a cave, should the flashlight go out. MM has a lighter option included, so creating fire, shouldn't be a problem.
*One extremely hypnotic lava lamp. I'm not joking, it's taken me at least twenty or so minutes just trying to write this all down, with it being distracting.
*One very comfortable, but a bit damaged bench. Purfect for napping.
*One ship, that isn't in top shipshape. No, I didn't just spend the last five minutes repeatedly saying that as fast as I can, why would you even imply that?
*One Felin, that's me. Hair's a bit of a mess, minor bruises, but no broken bones and only a mild scarring from what I experienced. Nothing a few naps won't fix.

Not much, but it's a start, I can only hope and the planet surface is suitable for extended walking and might even have something edible growing on it. Ship Ai, which I've nicknamed Scanny, should help determine if I manage to find anything remotely useful...
I'll write to you soon, diary, for now, it's time to get my paws dirty! ~

Were you playing on Stable or Unstable? I was playing on Unstable with full knowledge it'll all get wiped, cleared the Stable folders myself, to avoid errors. Hopefully you didn't advance too far and lost everything D:

P.S. Item/Weapon Frame mod is great for putting up visual signs of shops and such <3

    ~Dear Diary,

I'm sorry I've not really been writing as often as I could, but I've been busy trying to establish a shelter and find some food, canned food wasn't going to last forever, certainly not when shared. Merae is a lovely companion and all, but she sure eats a lot! Yes, that Merae, the Felin that I rescued from the local mining tunnels. She had been surviving on cooking the ever-present mutated bats (I think I'll call them Pterrorpuses) and mice. Poor thing didn't even know the operation had been abandoned and she was left all alone, I'm sure she's as grateful for having a person to talk to like I am.
    Don't worry diary, I won't leave you...

Construction of the basic settlement is going great, even found some time to practice my skills with a string instrument, no, I don't mean a ball of yarn, don't be silly.
Second floor is almost done being built, the balcony still needs glass, but so far I've not ventured far enough to find sand for it. Supplies haven't been good enough for long travels, though some of the crops have been growing pretty quickly, the soil here is incredible!

I'm still amazed at how similar to Earth this planet is, aside from a vastly differing fauna, (I mean have you seen the birds? They're huge! What am I saying, of course you haven't, you're just a diary...) it almost feels like home.
I've been so busy I've not really had time to miss it, or really think about what happened. Shudder. Perhaps it's for the best. No point in sulking about the past when the present is full of things to do, gotta work towards the future.
Wonder if anyone else made it though...

If you haven't noticed, I've decided to use a new way of telling time here, since until I am able to travel among the stars once more, universal clock is of no use. Days pass quickly here, you can barely blink and it's nighttime again! Which reminds me, I should bring a few more batteries down here for a light source, once I figure out the wiring on this ancient lamp here. Oh well, back to work.

It's all good. I'm going to take the colony requirements / improvement idea and turn it into an unlock the next goal thing - sort of like a skill tree.
I just want to have a little more structure and to have it as a quick reference.
Something I can print out and have on hand to plan what to do next, or at least keep track of the progress to the next goal.
If it comes out awesome I'll post it here for others to enjoy.

    @SivCorp
    Seeking clarification for the following:

    "5 city size levels.
    - hamlet - starter
    - village - developing (20 citizens)
    - town - lvl 2 tech and port developed (50 citizens)
    - city - lvl 3 tech and shipyard ( 100 citizens)
    - metropolis - bigger and bigger..."

So does that mean we need to have at least 20 people living in our colony to obtain "Village" level?
Does that include ourselves? (So 19 living there + ourselves)
Does that include special people like the Lumberjack? (19 people without special jobs + Lumberjack)

    - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ -

    Seeking clarification for the following:

    "3 tech levels.
    - 1 wood, coal fuels, iron tools (workbench, furnace and anvil techs)
    - 2 steel, bio fuels, steel tools - port available (steel workbench, alloy furnace, metalwork station)
    - 3 durasteel, radiated fuels, max tools - shipyard available (Replicator, Atomic Furnace, Specialists tables)
--- Even higher tech levels can exist, but must be discovered ;)"

So does that mean we need to have all suggested items (Replicator, Atomic Furnace, Specialists tables) in order to claim our city to have Tech lvl 3?
Is a Shipyard just a string of Docking ports for multiple ships?
^ Is there a minimum amount of ports required to claim having a Shipyard?

    - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ -

    Job related questions:
So a carpenter only processed the wood into planks but can't create stuff?

Any other ideas to explain what an manufacturer can create? Or they are the job that allows the creation of all things like: Tools, Furniture, Weapons?, Armor? Containers? more ... ?

    - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ - _ -

    Misc questions:

Did they ever put in a blueprint to create a pickax/drill or is a miner just not available till I find one?

How often-ish, RP wise, does each special job generate products?
^ Along this time frame thought, do we RP off of how many days have actually passed in game? Or X # of hours in real life = 1 day/ 1 week/ 1 month in game?
^^ Even if this time frame question is a "no" answer is there any thing you would like to suggest or is the most fun to work with?

Is there any benefit, or requirement, to have one of those hover crafts you get from the pirate & penguin? (As far as being a requirement for a city level or something like that?)

Thanks for taking the time to help me out with these things. I like having the option to follow more structure, rather than wide open - go do anything within reason.

Forgot to ask: For clothing citizens, does one set of cloths include a hat/helm - Chest - Legs or does the hat/helm not matter?

Do the colonized planets (after the initial one) need to go through the same upgrade process or can they use resources / tools provided by our initial planet?

I'm thinking hats are optional, but chest/legs might be a requirement, I mean, if you wear out a hat, it's no big deal, but if you wear out your ONLY shirt...

Update on the house, nighttime and daytime . (Accidentally broke the Colony Deed for my first NPC, so had to replace it, oh well
