Heya dudes and dudettes, I'll be honest. When we were getting ready to launch our pre-order, we didn't expect it to do nearly as well as it has. We worried we might not hit $50k much less $750k. When discussing what we thought we might make the first day, someone threw out the number $3,000 and it didn't sound too shabby. And then we surpassed that number in a matter of minutes, struggling for the next several hours to keep the servers afloat. In short, you've totally astonished us with your support! We've been doing our best to make it up to you by promising cool features. Or, well, what we think are cool features. So we've had sort of a stretch goal dilemma since hitting $500k. How do we top a playable race and a fossil system that adds a whole 'nother element to the game without promising something so code-heavy that it'll delay release? So, as some of you have discovered (you guys are sneaky!), we decided on starter pets. And we think the idea is pretty awesome! I've always personally been a sucker for any game with a pet system. But...the response we've gotten since the WIP reveal page was leaked has shown us that maybe you guys don't feel quite as enthusiastic about starter pets as we do. Err, oops. Our bad. We're not just going to go ahead with an idea that a majority of our supporters don't like! We need your opinions, and maybe your ideas. Do you like the idea of starting out with an adorable non-combat companion? Do you hate it? What do you think we should do instead? UPDATE: To answer some of your questions: 1) The next stretch goal doesn't have to be $1 million. We haven't given a value! 2) Each race would have a choice of pets.
