    tried again - same thing. At this time in the terminal written the names of players that have joined the server. However, only in the terminal, silence in game.
    No errors, no warnings, no alerts -)

    Sorry if my previous post was ambiguous. What I meant was that you should set the LogFile directive in starry.config to the absolute path of the starbound server log. Starry cant find the log file, so the features that work by parsing the log dont work.

    Thanks for your advice, thats obvious. probably should not jump to conclusions, but worth thinking)
    hmm but very strange - as if I didn't change the log file .. for example :
    "LogFile": "/home/steam/Steam/SteamApps/common/Starbound/linux64/starbound_server.log", or
    "LogFile": "/home/steam/Steam/SteamApps/common/Starbound/linux64/", or
    "LogFile": "" ()
    I always get the same error:
    Code:
    [Error] Failed to read log file: open /home/steam/Steam/SteamApps/common/Starbound/linux64/launch_starbound_server.sh.log: no such file or directoryPath: /home/steam/Steam/SteamApps/common/Starbound/linux64/launch_starbound_server.sh.log
    Last 0 log messages (of 0):

    but I do edit this file and change remain. Yes, I rebooted the server after each change.. but the error continues as if nothing changed.

    Due to the recent events, I can't help but ask: was this project in any way related to Starrybound? Has Zidonuke or Crashdoom touched its code in any way? I also strong recommend a clarification post on this, because the name similarity may infer to some sort of connection between these projects.

    That's
    It's not using the LogFile path? File a bug, in the mean time try setting
    "ServerPath": "/home/steam/Steam/SteamApps/common/Starbound/linux64/starbound_server",

    then run it with:
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/home/steam/Steam/SteamApps/common/Starbound/linux64:${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}" go run starry.go

    Hay guys, interested in this but Im not quite sure how to get this going from a remote server, I understand how to do it if I was launching a server from my own machine. A step by step for remote servers would be greatly appreciated

  7. saik0

    saik0 Space Spelunker

    The same way you would on a local machine. Which platform is the remote server running? Do you have root/admin privileges? Can you logic remotely? What specifically are you having trouble with?

  8. DoctorWho?

    DoctorWho? Void-Bound Voyager

    I am the owner of a multiplay.co.uk server. specifically? the whole thing I guess, Im not usually this lost but I must be missing something vital. Just treat me like a braindead monkey in terms of prior knowledge for now.

    So heres what I got in the starry.config

    "ServerPath": "/starbound/beta/starbound_server",
    "LogFile": "/starbound/beta/248741/starbound.config",
    "ServerAddress": "27.50.70.18:24825",
    "ProxyAddress": "0.0.0.0:21025" <-- this is a particular mystery as Im not sure if im ment to change it (Am I making this more complicated then it is.. I do that =.=)

    What exactly (and where) am I ment to upload to my server? and from there how do I remotely launch the batch/go file?

    You did jot answer any of the questions. Platform? Shell access/remote desktop? Is the Go interpreter installed? If not do you have privileges to install it?

  10. DoctorWho?

    DoctorWho? Void-Bound Voyager

    I answered them as best I could understand them, I have FTP access but thats all I think, I have go installed on my own pc but not the server, and I have no idea if I have privileges to do it.

    I had the same question I am very new to linux but I figured what the hell and gived it a go, I have a dedicated server (debian 7 64bit) and I just managed to setup starbound on it , so here is the question can you make a quick guide on how to install this on a debian 7 from what I can tell so far all linux based os are about the same so I guess the guide doesnt have to be for debian 7 only

  13. Borgius

    Borgius Tentacle Wrangler

    What's the problem?

    put http://golang.org/doc/install
    change the path in config
    and start the server (run go server.go)

    if you can not put a path or open ports, then you have a internet guides to set up Linux

    0.0.0.0:21025 - This means any address.

    Has anyone been able to get this working for Mac OS X? I've installed go, and I've set up the config with the serverpath to starbound_server file in the SteamApps folder. However, when running the server, it crashes. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    Since this morning's patch (2014-01-26 Frustrated Koala) starry isn't sending out MOTD or responding to in game commands. Also not able to give items on fist connect or by console command. Reported a bug here.

    For some reason Starry tries to run the server from the default path. Does anyone know why?

    Wow your whole program is written in like one file.

    Does .go not have importing, classing, object orientation ability?

    Help please! I have downloaded Starry, and GO(lang). But when I try to start Starry, it tells me:
    'go' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
    operable program or batch file.
    Press any key to continue . . .

    I have the Regular starbound server running, the port 21025 (The port Starry Uses) Forwared,
    and I made sure Starbound isn't running on 21025! Please tell me what I need to do. :mwahaha:
