      With 1.06 it happened always when I tried to change music packs. Now music files work, but that Stardew Symphony won't. So I guess it's a bug of the game. Nothing too serious luckily, other mods work fine.

        So why not just release a custom EXE and do away with all the hard-coded limitations then use diff when there is a new version of the game? That's what I'm about to do because I'm sick of all the hard-coded things. Any potential issues??

            And SMAPI/Storm doesn't have the same legal ones? (Modifying the exe while it is in memory)?

            As long as someone still has to buy the game I don't see the problem...

              The currently-used API tools don't physically modify the executable in any way. You're talking about de-compiling, modifying & re-compiling the games original *.exe, and then freely distributing it to the masses. Big difference.

              (Not to mention discussing it on the game publisher's official forums.)

              But back on-topic: that XNA-audio buffer-bug could be solved that way, yes, but every hardcode change you make will potentially cause other issues, like completely breaking API compatibility.

                There is a difference between patching code and distribution said patched code.
                SMAPI does not distribute Stardew itself, only a executable that can patch it so mods will work with it.
                Distributing a patched version of stardew itself infringes directly on CA's copyright, while distributing a exe that does the patching is not directly illegal as it requires the person in question to already have Stardew (CA could choose to prohibit it, but unless he explicitly states it to be prohibited, it isnt illegal)

                    After you download it (from here: https://github.com/ClxS/SMAPI/releases/download/0.40.0/SMAPI-0.40.0.zip) you should have a zipped folder and when you open the contents, it should look like this:

                    You'll want to take all four of those files and put them where your game is installed. This is typically something like C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Stardew Valley and paste them into that folder, so it looks like this (sort of, I might have extra files because I do modding):

                    Lastly, to actually start your game with SMAPI, you'll want to use the StardewModdingAPI application file. You can right click on it and choose an option to create a desktop shortcut or pin it to your start menu. In my screenshot you can see I made a shortcut but forgot to actually move it somewhere, haha ^_^

                      @sansofaces Your antivirus/malware protection is deleting or quarantining the SMAPI.exe file. You'll need to whitelist (tell it to ignore) SMAPI.

                        We've discovered an issue with the WINE version of SMAPI. In brief: The WINE version has to be done in .NET 4.0 instead of 4.5 for compatibility reasons (WINE doesn't mind 4.0, it doesn't mind 4.5, but trying to do both causes them both to not work because of how a certain file handling was changed). So any mod which uses any methods that are exclusive to .NET 4.5 is not going to work with it. Fixing it, however, is non-trivial.

                        Option one is to just have mod authors code for .NET 4.0. Which is rather silly, all things considered. I mean, if you wanted to, that would be nice, but it is too much to really expect. Likewise with asking the mod author to basically create and maintain two different versions of the mod, that's just silly.

                        Option two is to have someone go in and re-code the mods in .NET 4.0 for release for the WINE launcher. So basically forking the main branch (assuming open-sourced mod) and making a different version. Maybe it is because I'm from the Minecraft modding community, and there was a considerable amount of drama around a topic like this at one point, I'm not sure how feasible this is. Would mod authors mind of someone did this? OFC as a fork, no obligations of support implied on the part of the original author, that should go without saying. But I know that some people can get a bit touchy over topics like this.

                        So, what is the general opinion and views here? Would anyone have a problem with a project like this, assuming permissions and acknowledgement are taken as prerequisite?

                          I am having an issue as well. Am running SDV 1.07. Freshly installed from Steam. Have nothing else except what came with SMAPI [0.40.0]. Ran the API exe, and it gave me this error log: http://pastebin.com/rzjwjmkA

                          I have installed XNA redist that came with Stardew Valley, I also have a newer version of Dotnet, so the redist that came with the game is pointless. I verified the integrity of the files multiple times, even re-installed SDV multiple times. I still get this error. I've even ran it without the trainer mod, and tried it inside the appdata/roaming/stardewvalley/mods folder as well, and didn't get any results. Anyone have any ideas?

                          On Windows 7 64bit.

                              The one I ran across was with Farm Automation, and the method error was as follows:

                              I'm positive there's others that will cause a problem, but that's one so far.

                                  I have a small problem. The minigame "Journey of the Prairie King" does not work. I tried without all mods, didn't work, but without SMAPI runs perfectly. On the API Console appears this message over and over again:

                                    Hi, @Dracyen . Two quick questions:

                                    1. Have you updated to the latest versions of SDV (it's at v.1.07) and SMAPI (it's at v.0.40.0)?
                                    2. Can you use the 'Upload a File' button to attach your full error log to your post? It's in "Users>[USERNAME]>AppData>Roaming>StardewValley>ErrorLogs"
