Some previously working mods suddenly don't work anymore

After 1.1 came out I updated to the most recent SMAPI. NPC Map locations and Gift Taste Helper worked fine. That is until about 2 weeks ago. I thought they were somehow corrupted so I deleted the problem mods and reinstalled. Nope. Still not working.
In addition, new mods that are supposedly compatible and recently updated do nothing at all, such as Auto Gate. Is there a trick to it?
Anyone have similar issues or am I all alone in the Valley?

 

Umm, I finally figured out that I needed to update SMAPI for several mods to work. All is well on Butternut Farm!
