Scanmode gone

So I already finished the mainstory of Starbound and messed around with the commands a bit. I used /startquest "protectorate" so now my scan mode is gone and I have the first mode again. Now I can't get scan mode back. I tried starting the mission where you get it but it doesn't work so I tried /spawnitem scanmode and I got the item (which is some progress I guess). But how do I get my scan mode on [N]again?! Please help and I know I am stupid..

 

try /giveessentialitem inspectionmode inspectiontool

 

The command works but I get the lens instead of the scan tool.

 

replace inspectionmode with scanmode

 

I tried it said "Invalid essential item slot scanmode"

 

as in /giveessentialitem scanmode inspectiontool

 

Yes when I try both of these commands it says the same

 

a hex editor can b used to edit ur character and replace the item in the inspection tool slot with scanmode

 

So what do I do now
