So I've been developing lore for this initially starbound race for a very long time now, since I joined back in 2013. However, it's evolved way beyond the point where I can think of everything. The world's top big for me to explore and details are something I need help finding. That's where you come in. If you're curious about anything regarding the Salian races (the lizardman sallok and the snakemen Salzar) do ask.
Well, that depends on which race, which alliance, which country, and during which time. They've only been developed up to about extended Industrial Age/Genetic age though, so you've only so many times to work with.
Well, the primary population of Salzar are basically communists in terms of economic and social structure, entirely structured around four job areas. One is dedicated to the survival and maintenance of the colony (the colonies are the innards of giant undersea leviathans, the workers essentially keep them healthy and able to sustain the populations.), one is dedicated to technological advancements and research (Their version of "the Promethean flame" is essentially cancerous tumors. Their everything evolved from that and is now expanded into accelerated genome evolution for specialized cell growth), One to handle security and conflict (Self explanatory. Police and military) and the other is to handle intercolonial and intercultural relationships (While the leviathans are essentially the benevolent dictators, they need help when it comes to things like relaying information sent from one colony to another, negotiations and trade with the sallok, and other such things). Family units are structured more like working groups, with disregard for blood relations. After completing school, the salzar will go to work in whatever they find is their calling, and specialize in learning that, bonding with the others in the learning group. After specialized teaching is done, those in the group will have likely bonded and are now a working crew, cooperating and living together completing work orders and such. Politics between the land adapted countries are currently at ease... The last war was recent though, only about twenty years ago... It took place between the Sallok and Salzar, and resulted in no winner... Both suffered tremendous casualties in the millions for both soldiers and civilians... For religion, all follow one... One diety... One father to the bastard races that are the Sallok and Salzar... Praise him...
You've no idea how deep this rabbit hole goes... Keep asking questions and I will keep going... (Hell, I don't know how deep it goes... Just that so far I'm really in deep... )
For the salzar I'm guessing? That typically varies depending on the group type. But it'll be easier than the sallok... With the advances in biotechnology they posses, they always fight in groups of sorts. Always preferring melee or slung/strung ballistic weapons (which put them at a severe disadvantage against the salzar), with different designated biological enhancements and equipment depending on their individual specialties and their group's specialization. (Groups are often units of five or seven). Some will go for stronger limbs and protective equipment, some for more mobile limbs, some for sleeker and stealthier choices, and other such options. Different tactics and strategies are formed for different groups, tailored to what they specialize in. Some might use more hit and run distraction guerrilla fighting, others may do scare tactics (Easily achievable if you look like Freddie Kruger formed into an amalgam with Deadpool, and then merged with a dark young of shub niggurath).
Yes. In the sallokian nation of the Letons, there are the council members, four of them for each aspect of their society (economics, politics, agriculture, sciences, etc), two of each gender, two of each age section. In the Salzarian cultures, it's the leviathans. They hold all the power, while they have a few subordinate council members to help with decision making.
Well, the sallok have what is known as "Eirqi ti Outinuir" or "the waters of Outinuir". A lethal toxin that dissolves in water, even in vaporous form. It is tasteless, odorless, and has a very light orangish tint to its translucency that is impossible to notice when mixed with a sizable amount of water. It attacks the nervous system, blocking nerve connections as it flows quickly through the bloodstream. The lethal dosage is about 10ml/kg and can kill even through permeation of the skin/scales. It is about twice as lethal if ingested. It is responsible for the death of one of the leviathans as well as the entirety of those seven million Salzar inside. (The other leviathan had its brain destroyed.) The Salzar have what they call "brolti djur" or "unseen vacuum". A terribly infectious disease that affects respiratory function and is spread simply through breathing the same air as the infected. Those afflicted will not notice it until they are too infected with the bacterium as it slowly begins multiplying and spreading in their alveoli, preventing oxygen and carbon dioxide from being transported in their blood and suffocating them. Day by day, their breathing will grow more taxed until they perspire. It claimed the lives of almost twelve million.
That's a large amount of toxin to kill; unless most of that volume is water. To put it into prospective, the LD50 of cyanide can be as low as 1.5mg/kg. Also, LD50s are usually calculated as mg of toxin to kg of body weight.
I am aware, but I did mention it was thrice (or more likely near instantly) as lethal if ingested. It is also easy to mass produce.
I assume it's sort of regulated though? I mean, such a lethal agent should probably not fall into civilian hands I guess.
It's illegal at this point. As are the manufacturings of any sort of dangerous pathogen or non-useful lethal chemical. Any operations are carefully shot down... And shot up... Possession of such matterial is a crime punishable by death.
Figures. How does law enforcement work in general? Is there a specialised, modern police force or is it more akin to city guards?
