Return to Lore Home Planets - Earth, Avos, etc.

I think it would be a great idea to be able to return to each of the races' home planets.
We could really see the lore in play: the tentacle creatures on Earth, MASSIVE temples on Avos, the crashed Avian ship now stripped on the Florans' home planet, and so on.
This should be an endgame feature, because you escaped your planet, you progress from primitive tools to the state of crazy sci-fi, now you come back home to face whatever challenges lies back at home.

This idea could be merged with Excalibur2001's idea (thread called 'Earth Vengeance') where we could fight the final bosses on these home planets.

I think it's a pretty cool idea, mainly because I love the lores :) and am interested to see it not only in Codexes...

I think when the main starbound story is out, it will include home worlds (maybe)

I completely agree. It would be amazing to explore Earth's entire solar system with Mercury, Venus, Mars, and the other ones.

Hey, that's a cool idea. Have each lore planet's solar systems too. Maybe have traces of them trying to terraform them? (e.g Mars having man-made structures, some half complete)

I think that once the storyline is released, the home worlds will be part of the quests.

That would be awesome! Here's an idea for the human return to Earth:

    Human:

The USCM has gotten word of your various exploits, and they contact you saying that they're preparing to take back Earth, and they want you to lead them (well, that's how it would happen if you weren't already part of the USCM). The remaining world leaders (formed into the United Systems) elect you as Supreme Commander of the USCM (When you finish the quest you can abandon the post), and you fly a ship to the surface of Earth, full of USCM soldiers and vehicles, gear, etc. Pollution and corruption prevents you from beaming down directly, so when you get into the driver seat it triggers a minigame type thing where you're flying the ship, and you must land on the surface without being smashed/crushed by tentacles. Once you land, you can walk outside and inside the ship like its part of the landscape, and USCM NPCs are everywhere, shooting tentacles and securing the area.

Giant tentacles smash out of the ground as enemies, and various tentacled monsters roam the landscape. The background is a mix of collapses skyscrapers and enormous tentacles, and several collapsed structures litter the landscape. You then talk to whoever is second in command (General Kale?), and they tell you that to save Earth you need to journey into the core of the planet, and kill the beast. Nearby, there is an enormous cave sloping downwards, filled with tentacles, and you must journey inside. Once you make it through, you'll find yourself in an enormous circular room, the core of the planet (the cave goes through the mantle, which spawns higher up to provide enough room). Inside the chamber, wrapped around the core, is an ENORMOUS (like, bigger then the screen enormous) tentacled monster, the final boss.

The boss has an enormous amount of health, and has several attacks, which include smashing at you with a tentacle, dealing massive damage, grabbing you with a tentacle and throwing you, doing a medium amount of damage, and a screeching cry, which shakes the screen and summons several tentacled minions to assist it. After its gets to a quarter of its health left, it goes into 'berserk' mode, dealing increased damage, and screaming more often. When you finally kill it, it screeches in fury, and the screen suddenly starts shaking as its limp body collapses. The planet's core has become unstable, and you must escape back up the tunnel in two minutes, or you will be instantly killed by the explosion. If you are killed, you'll simply respawn inside the USCM ship, and the events play out as normal. The USCM barricades the hole with Impervium, and there's a deep rumbling below the ground. The various tentacles and tentacled monsters screech and begin to die and vanish, due to the queen being slain. Suddenly, there's an enormous blast, and there's a thudding noise as the screen flashed white and yellow from the explosion, and then goes into blackness. A scene plays of the player waking up in a medical facility within the USCM's base.

You storm to the command center, and General Kale informs you that the explosion destroyed the tentacle virus, and by some miracle, Earth survived. They say it will be years before the planet is stable enough to sustain the human race again, but thanks to the player, the human race has its homeworld back. The scene cuts to a ceremony, and the player walks down the isle (along with a companion or pet used), and the player (and the companion) is awarded the USCM Medal of Honor. When the scene ends, your back in the USCM space station, and after talking to the General, you can either continue working with the USCM (if you didn't already join for good), or you can abandon your post. If you choose to join, you unlock tons of quests, which in turn give pixels and USCM themed armor, weaponry, and tech. If not, you can simply return to the base anytime, and interact with the NPCs and Vendors like it was a village (although you can't kill or break anything).

Once you leave the base, the next time you return (after visiting at least 3 other planets), you are notified Earth is capable of life again, and you can beam down to it. Its populated with Earth fauna (recloned of course, and some animals could be tamed as pets, or fighting monsters). Green grass, brown dirt, a good backround. Weather includes normal rain, snow, and meteor showers (the very large ones, very, very, very rarely). You can then use it for whatever you like (such as rebuilding human civilization, nudge nudge).

It would also be cool if you could visit the other planets and moons in the Solar System, I assume the system would be in Sector X (or whatever the endgame sector is).

@Hawk Novablast: Wow, looks like you put a lot of effort into that! The "Metriod Style Escape" part sounds fun as well. You should Email that suggestion to one of the Starbound developers er' something.
