I want to convert some songs from MP3 to MIDI, and then from MIDI to .abc, so I can use them in-game. I can convert them between the file formats easily, but when I do, it comes out as a mess. I think this is due to the vocals, but the methods I've found for removing vocals from an MP3 haven't worked: • Splitting the stereo into two tracks, setting both to mono, and then inverting one track • Using the built-in Audacity tools for removing vocals Does anybody have tips for doing this?
Have you tested the method with a different audio file? The reason splitting and inverting the track works, is that vocals tend to be in the center channel of audio so this method just happens to work for removal. If you can effectively remove the vocals in other files, but not the one you want, vocals might not in the dead-center channel. So you may have to look for a different version of the song or a different file of the same song (if the files were compiled differently).
