This looks shopped. I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time.
    /sarcasm off

Swell job if I might add :]

Well done, but i'm afraid that's not anywhere near 'pixel art'.

What if most of it was drawn by filling it in pixel by pixel? Or are we still debating it must be along the lines of 8-bit/16-bit to be pixel art :(

Hm. I would say no, as it would have to be smaller for me to think it was.

Please tell me I'm not the only one in the topic that understands what pixel art actually is.
Sprites are not the only form pixel art can take.

By what you all are saying, pointillisms would be considered pixel art.

By my definition, it would have to have detail up to the pixels to be considered pixel art. Like when you google 'pixel art'.

  8. Jaber

    Jaber Pangalactic Porcupine

Okay. It does. It's hard not to when you're working at 8x zoom.
    Anything else?

I'm afraid your picture does not contain any detail on the pixel scale. :s

Can you not see the jaggedy pixels on parts of the chair or tail? What is this picture considered then if it isn't pixel art? This picture is an example of 16-bit pixel art, which is found in google images as well. I do not get what kind of art you think this is, unless you are thinking of 8-bit

    I'm afraid it does.

Is there anything else you'd like to be mistaken about...?

Ehh that's kinda hard to see, lemme get one without the grid.

I wouldn't exactly class that as 'detail'. Just because it has points on it, that doesn't qualify as pixel detail, in my view.
Yes, that is pixel art. This is different to the previous picture, there is detail on the pixel scale here.

Where can I get some of whatever you're smoking?
    I promise I won't snitch.

Well, at least there's one other person who knows what they're talking about. I guess I'll have to take what I can get.

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.
    (Also you are rude. :c)

And you are telling me that zooming in to 8x to add fine details does not count as 'adding detail on the pixel level'

I can really only take so much, you know?

[IMG]How about now (I didn't even change anything except add "Jaber")

Pixel art is what you see when you google 'Pixel art'. I'm afraid your drawing doesn't fit in there. :s

Ohhhhhhhhh you are mixing up SPRITES and art!! They are one and the same, but the only thing this picture is not is a sprite (unless we get it animating of course)

No, i mean 'pixel art'. The stuff you see when you google 'pixel art' is called 'pixel art'. See?

This argument is stupid and unproductive, and i'm off to bed. Byee!

Are you referring to the first 4+ pages which are all by the same artist?
They're pretty well known and several of those were commissioned by companies like Coca Cola, I believe.
Of course, being entirely by the same artist, all in the same style and at the same scale means that it's a very poor sample of what pixel art can be.

My decision to leave it relatively minimal in terms of shading and detail doesn't discount it from being pixel art. I actually went back and REMOVED some of the finer details because there was just too much going on, which was distracting from the overall image and throwing off the aesthetics I wanted.
