Or I can just repost the OP:

Alright, it's finally here; things might get a little wordy, but don't worry, there won't be a test on this. Keep in mind, this isn't set in the Starbound universe.

Over an unclaimed territory, tensions mounted between two nations; a powder-keg, if you will. All it took was a spark, and a war followed. After several years of bloody conflict the two nations finally sought peace, agreeing to build a great project together, a railway to connect the nations, to solidify that peace. But the people of that unclaimed territory, that No Man’s Land, didn’t take kindly to this further trespass and aim to retaliate.

However, the rail must be built, come hell or high water; and the companies building it will pay well for your services to defend it. This might be profitable, though probably deadly, and who knows what secrets lie under No Man’s Land.

Why are wars fought? Is it for ideological reasons? The classic battle of good versus evil? Or is for something a little more basic; such as resources. At the end of the day, those who actually fight the war, the soldiers at the front, care little about the actual politics and reasons for the war; many driven by a sense of nationalism, or are conscripted, and thus are obligated to serve or risk the penalty of imprisonment.

And what about the territories this war are fought on? Some times it is the homeland of one of the belligerent nations, protecting their sovereignty from an invading army; but some times, it is the land of a non affiliated third party, or in rare cases, a no man’s land, sitting at the frontier of the belligerent nations. Usually this land is just a line in the sand, the separator that is a national border, but what if that land is a massive expanse, unclaimed due to it being simply untameable?

Even if this land is untamed, there are still people brave enough to settle there, sick of national politics, or adventurous enough to go where others would avoid. Well, it’s their bad luck I suppose, because this untamed land was quickly exploited by some larger ‘interests’; corporations and the like who wanted to take advantage of this unclaimed land to do what they pleased, displacing the locals, and extracting the resources located there.

The real trouble didn’t start until a corporate reconnaissance group from the western nation ran afoul of a mining crew dispatched by a eastern company. It came to gunfire, and was seen as an act of war by the eastern nation, both side eventually came to the conclusion that this territory was too small to support the two nation’s interests, and war was the only course of action; it would determine who had the right to that land, and the bountiful resources that lie beneath it.

The two nations marched their armies across the territory known as ‘No Man’s Land’, and fought many bloody battles over it. What little infrastructure was pounded into scrap by artillery, and many of the locals were ‘collateral damage’ after being caught in the crossfire. This will be important later.

After several years of fighting, the two nations realized they were fighting over ashes. Though some of the resources could still be recovered, the infrastructure to harvest them was destroyed, and a long effort would be needed to fix it. So the two nations agreed to sign a treaty of peace; they would share the land, first building a rail line across the great expanse to connect the two nations. From there, they would try to strengthen their bonds, and lasting peace might… hang on.

Geez, starting to sound like a sappy ‘happy ending’. A story like this needs twist to spice things up, right? Well, you know how I mentioned those locals who kinda got trampled, first by the corporations and then by the hammer and anvil of the two nations? Well, there was a lot of abandoned equipment left over from the war, and the locals ‘recovered’ a good chunk of that stuff. They also didn’t take kindly to this new exploit of the territory with this big railway cutting through. They might’ve been a little more forgiving if they could’ve benefited from it, but guess what! There’s another twist. That rail line was first planned as a non-stop express; none of this ‘stopping midway’.

As a result, some of the locals turned to banditry; using the salvaged munitions and equipment to raid the railway. Now, since the rail was being constructed by the same companies responsible for sparking the war in the first place, some of the bandits were also looking for a little revenge. However the rail needed to be built, and the two nations were willing to allow a little extra ‘muscle’ to help with security. That’s where you come in; be it former soldiers, mercs, or just average citizens looking for a quick buck, this might just be an interesting story, or a short, bloody one.

Now, all that warbling aside, let’s get into the meat of things, yes? This story is set on some far flung planet some time after colonization, long enough for major nations to form from the first colonies. The nations we’re concerned about are Neue Bayern, the nation to the east, and the Pyreneus Republic to the west; serving as an analog to the Central and Entante powers of World War I respectively. Old West themes aside, this is a sci-fi story, cybernetics, mag-lev trains, motorcycles instead of horses and the like. The starting point of this story will be in Neue Bayern, aka New Bavaria.

Standard forum rules apply here; GM's word is law; no godmoding, metagaming, killing other PCs or NPCs without good reason; OOC goes in this thread, not the RP thread; yadda yadda yadda. I will be lenient the first time, and will apply retcons if necessary, but don't push your luck.

I should also mention that some things are still a work in progress; if I make any major posts later in this thread, I will link to those posts here. Naturally, if there are any questions, comments, criticisms, feel free to post here; or throw a PM my way if you want to keep it private.

    Oh, before I forget:

Perhaps you where searching a job bank, received an email, or found an ad on your preferred news website; but it seems like there's an opportunity on the frontier. The ad reads:

To get it all in one place, here are the infodumps that have been scattered throughout this thread.

Reflex Cloth- with the arms race between weapons and armour, you’ll get odd innovations such as this. Under normal circumstances it behaves like normal cloth; but once it receives a substantial amount of shear stress, such as being hit by a bullet, it goes temporarily rigid. This cloth is used for making more concealable armours, disguised as ordinary clothing, coats and the like. Though it is used as a component of more ‘overt’ armours. At any rate, it’s rare to see someone on the frontier who doesn’t have a coat made from the stuff.

Cybernetics- Though medical technology has yet to be able to reliably clone lost limbs and organs, there’s always the option to replace them with cybernetics. So might even go as far as replacing everything but the brain with ‘chrome’.

Robotics- Don’t forget the less ‘invasive’ applications of robotics, I’m talking about remote controlled drones, powered exoskeletons, and other cool stuff.

Computing- Naturally, computers are omnipresent, coming in all forms and sizes. Though what might be more important is the software you can run on them.

Augmented Reality- With the computers we’ve got, and the addition of either cybernetic implants or, for the chrome shy, an imaging visor, we can display things in your field of view; HUDs, video feeds, ‘holograms’, you name it. Luckily, the fidelity is better than those old sci-fi movies.

Power Cells- All this fancy tech is of little use without means to power it, yeah? Luckily, battery tech has come a long way, providing impressive energy densities through the use of compact superconductors and graphene storage mediums.

Direct Neural Interfacing- What if I told you that you could control your ride with your mind? With the right implant, you can; if you don’t mind plugging your brain into it with a wire first. ‘Smart-links’ for your gun use similar hardware.

    Weapons
Fine, I’m sure you were looking forward to this section; there’s still the classic smokeless gunpowder burning, brass ejecting guns in common use, but there are a few ‘high tech’ alternatives.

Lasers- Don’t get too excited, the usable ones are those massive vehicle mounted rigs; though there are ‘semi-portable’ guns. They use chemical lasing mediums, and vent a nasty, toxic gas. Might want to wear a respirator.

Railguns- An improvement of the ‘slugthrower’ concept, instead of using explosive propellant, a magnetic field is used to accelerate the bullets to hypersonic velocities. The power systems and coolant necessary does add a substantial amount of weight, though the range, accuracy and power make them popular as ’sniper’ weapons.

Electrolasers- Though lethal lasers might be more trouble than they’re worth, laser tech does give us this unique tool; it’s best described as a ‘wireless taser’. A low powered laser ionizes the air, creating a conduit to channel a jolt of electricity, zapping the target.

Plasma Projectors (‘Flamers’)- And you thought flamethrowers were bad enough. These plasma torch derived contraptions fling hot death at a surprising distance, melting through things you thought were fireproof. Luckily, they’re kinda bleeding edge, so you won’t be seeing them often.

7.5mmP Holdout- The backup gun; this pocket sized sidearm is unlikely to scare anyone, but for the individual who needs something rather than nothing, it’s a place to start. At least it holds a respectable 18 rounds.

10mmP Standard- with a little more punch than the .40 S&W, armies on both sides of the war issued these standard. With a high capacity of 16 rounds on average, a couple features are available:
-Double tap sear: Designed to fire a 'high cyclic burst' this modification allows you to fire two shots before the recoil affects your aim. This will guarantee both shots will land next to each other, if not on the same spot.

15mmP Magnum- Think Desert Eagle. They've never been standard issue to any military, but there always seems to be a market for these wrist-breakers. The standard magazine holds 8 rounds.

18.5mmS Shotpistol- With a bore diameter matching the venerable 12 gauge, this pistol might seem excessive, even while sitting next to the 15mm pistols. It does have some utility thanks to its payload potential. Besides the standard shot loads; flares, grenades and chemical rounds have been designed for it. It holds 4 rounds in its mag tube.

10mmP Machine Pistol- Based off the ubiquitous standard pistol, this is a select fire model with a cyclic rate of 600 rounds per minute. Although it can use the same magazines as its semi-auto cousin, this one comes standard with 30 round magazines for that little extra burn time.

5.7mmP Personal Defence- For vehicle crews and rear echelon troops. It is also standard issue for train guards. It fires a cartridge resembling a miniature rifle round, and at an impressive cyclic rate of 1200 rounds per minute. It feeds from a horizontally mounted 100 round magazine. Though its high velocity cartridge normally comes in armour piercing, it inflicts small wounds, relying on volume to kill.

7mmR Hunter- As the name implies, these rifles are marketed to civilian hunters and sport shooters. With a simple semi-automatic action, and a long barrel, they are accurate and controllable. It feeds from a 10 round magazine. With some work, they can be converted to full-auto fire and to use high-capacity magazines.
-Assault Carbine Variant: Military model designed for select-fire in its standard configuration, with a full-auto cyclic rate of 900 rounds per minute. Magazine capacity is 50 rounds.

10mmR Storm Carbine- Firing a bigger round than the assault carbine, this rifle is for those who need more stopping power. This comes at a cost though, the cyclic rate is slower at 600 rounds per minute, the magazine holds a more modest 30 rounds and of course, the recoil and ammo is heavier.

10mmLR Designated Marksman Rifle- Firing a ‘magnum’ version of the standard 10mmR round, this semi-automatic rifle is for those who find the 7mm hunter inadequate. It has high accuracy and is usually accompanied by a scope, and feeds from a 12 round magazine.

15mmR Anti-Mareriel Rifle- A bulky, heavy, expensive rifle for those who just want things to die. Be it lightly armoured vehicles, low-flying aircraft, combat robots or battlesuit troopers. It has an integral scope, killer recoil, and good accuracy, at least for the first shot. Magazine capacity is 10 rounds.

25mmR Payload Rifle- Firing a heavier, slower round than the AMR, the primary purpose of this gun is to use high-explosive rounds, shaped-charges, and other calibre dependant projectiles. The low velocity does limit accuracy, and in military service it’s been designated “Man Deployable, Grenade Projector” or MDGP; this led to the nickname “Medical Doctor, General Practitioner”. Its bulky magazine holds 8 rounds.

18.5mmS- Coming in a variety of options. all using the same interchangeable rounds. Ammunition options are endless, though buckshot, birdshot and slugs are ubiquitous. For the pistol model, see the pistol section.
-Civilian: Your basic semi-automatic design. Feeding from a 5 round tube, it’s primary use is as a hunting and fowling gun, but police and security forces gladly use it for riot control; with the appropriate cartridges, of course. The police version has a larger 8 round capacity.
-Close Assault: A select-fire variant for house-to-house fighting. It uses detachable magazines rather than an integral tube, with either 10 box mags, or 20 round drums. The cyclic rate is 300 rounds per minute.
-Underbarrel: For those who want a shotgun on their rifle, there’s this attachment. As the name implies, it attaches to a standard underbarrel mounting rail, giving you the shotgun option without needing to swap weapons. It’s pump action though, limiting its rate of fire, and feeds from a 4 round tube.

7mmR Light Support- Chambered in the cartridge as the assault carbine, this belt-fed bullet-hose serves alongside its standard issue cousin. It has the same 900 round per minute output, but its belt feed allows an impressive 200 round ammo count. Swapping belts is a bit of an involved process, so make sure your allies have you covered.

10mmR General Purpose- Heavier duty in the same vein as the storm carbine, firing with the same staccato beat in tune to 600 rounds per minute. It uses belt lengths of 100 rounds.

10mmLR Chaingun- not to be confused with the gatling; who fed you that idea anyway? This electrically driven, though still single-barrelled heavyweight is as reliable as it gets; external power tends to make it immune to dud cartridges, misfeeds and other malfunctions. Is fires the same magnum round as the DMR, giving it quite the stopping power; and its 600 round per minute frequency and 60 round belt length will give your enemies pause.

    Notes on ammunition:
The round the guns fire does determine a couple details, and the calibre is relevant. The bigger the bore, the more severe the wounds it will cause after it defeats armour. This will be abstracted for the most part.

The other detail is armour penetration. The rule of thumb is rifles are good at defeating armour; pistols and shotguns, not so much. If you get armour piercing ammunition, even your pistol can defeat common ballistic vests, but its wounding potential will suffer.

Those capital letters after the calibre number are relevant as well, and are pretty straightforward; P for pistol, R for rifle, LR for long rifle and S for shotgun. So there is some ammo interchangeability, but it’s not one size fits all.

Reflex- An improvement on kevlar-style ballistic cloth. The name comes from the fact that it reflexively hardens to better absorb impacts. At its standard thickness it protects agains most pistol threats, similar to level IIIA ballistic armours while being notably lighter. It does come in a ‘heavy’ variety for better protection, but keep in mind that it is still flexible armour, and even if it stops the bullet, you’ll still suffer blunt trauma.
-Ballistic inserts are also available, for those who wish to better protect without throwing on too much weight.

Clamshell- A simple cuirass made of a metal and ceramic laminate. Usually worn over a reflex jacket, it will protect against common rifle calibers without adding too much weight to one’s kit; it’s only designed to protect the torso however. A heavy model is also available which might even stop some armour piercing rounds, but this does add extra weight. It is an option to only wear the front plate if you wish to cut down on weight, naturally this leaves your back exposed.

Combat Hardsuit- For those who feel underprotected by a clamshell cuirass, this more extensive option covers the whole body. Using the same construction as it’s lesser cousin, it’s heaviest at the torso, while lighter articulated plates cover the limbs. With the helmet in place it also provides some environmental protection, but the whole suit is unpowered and has a substantial amount of weight to it.

Once more, feel free to ask about anything that might not be covered by these lists.

Personality: Usally friendly when in a non-combat zone, but when he's fighting, he's dead serious. He can also crack a joke to lighten the mood. Aden is usually looking for adventure, which is why he is here.

    Vocation: Gunfighter

    Traits:
Sniper: Could hit an apple off of someone's head 100 feet away while they are running.

Soldier: Having experience as a soldier, he can think on his feet and has a very fast response time.

Sympathy for the enemy: He would try to avoid killing the locals unless he had to.

Don't get cocky kid: A bit overconfident in himself.

    Cybernetics: None

    Equipment:
Reflex armor with some ballistic inserts.
    Small surveillance drone
Helmet with AR visor that flips down (sees what the drone sees)
    Smart Rocket with 3 rockets
    10mmLR DMR with 60 rounds.
    7.5mmP Holdout with 36 rounds
Some basic survival gear (knife, matches, water, etc.)
    3 Grenades (frag if possible)
Light exoskeleton for running and carrying his load.
14 D cells for his exoskeleton.

History: After a rather brutal time in the war that Aden prefers not to talk about, Aden has decide to come help with the construction of the railway. He believes neither side is in the right, since the two nations shouldn't have killed the locals and the locals shouldn't be retaliating like this. He has come here to try to prevent as much civilian casualties and casualties in general as possible.

Seems pretty solid to me. The two things to keep in mind, you're going to need some power cells for that exoskeleton, It will use D cells for 12 hours of run time each. And what warheads does the rocket use? It they're anti-tank, they'd be shaped-charge; and I'm amused that you're calling them 'smart rockets' when the more appropriate name would be guided missile. But then again, that is a Star Wars weapon.

I'll add the cells. The rocket launcher is probably called that because it'll lock onto a vehicle/turret starting at 500m. And they'd probably be anti-tank/anti-vehicle.

After so much wait, it is finally here! Prepare to be disappointed!

    Name: Kaizen Aliiki (Ah-lee-ee-kee)

    Age: 27

Physical Description: Middle eastern looking, dark brown hair in a military cut. Average height, and looks wiry, very little fat but plenty of muscle. His eyes are a dark brown, with with implants on either side of his eye that slide over to create a holo-screen over each eye, tinted slightly black. There's a plug extending downwards from the back of his head and under the collar of his duster, this runs under his shirt and interfaces with a cybernetic arm, starting above his elbow. All of his cybernetics have a dull, matte black finish, so they don't glint in light. Descriptions on clothing and cybernetics are below.

Personality: He is isn't exactly the most chipper of people, but he is known to crack a joke at times. He gets attached to his team, and does his best to minimize casualities. In the end, orders are orders though, and if someone has to die, then so be it. He prefers not to get his own hands dirty, but can still handle himself in a fight if he has to.

Vocation: Battle Tactician and Comm Specialist

    Traits

    Advantages

Military Experience: He was enlisted as a Comm Specialist during the war, running tactics and command for many missions in that three year span, as well as less legitimate operations before the war, so he has plenty of experience.

Code for Blood: Kaizen is very experienced with both software and hardware, allowing him to navigate through most systems with ease.

    Cybernetics: Detailed below

    Flaws

Overclocked: If he runs his systems for too long, it causes a huge strain on his system. Minor effects are a headache and a coppery taste in his mouth, major abuse results in a horrible migraine and eventually blacking out.

Cybernetics: A single EMP could completely ruin most of his usefulness, and cause a harsh feedback resulting in a splitting headache.

One Trick Pony: Other than his pistol, he is pretty much defenseless, knowing very little melee or unarmed combat.

Virus Susceptible: Due to how wired in he is, it is possible for Kaizen to acquire a digital virus, which can wreak havoc on his implants and his brain.

Cybernetics: Cybernetic implants into the sides of his eyes (think Deus Ex) that can slide across, allowing him to have a VR interface. This combined with a neural interface plugged into the top of the spine and running down to interface with his arm allows him to quickly run through data, and navigate through computer systems easily. The arm is fabricated from “high specific strength steel”, an alloy of mainly steel and aluminum that provides the benefits of titanium, light and strong, with the cost effectiveness of other materials. The fingertips can swap to various different plug types, allowing him to directly interface with most machines, as well as a remote tool for items like drones or distant devices. The arm is powered by a standard power cell built in where the biceps would be. There is a built in keyboard in the forearm that can flip out to use.

Equipment: 10mmP Standard Issue, or at least that is the base. He has had it modified with a double tap sear, as a plug in the handle that directly interfaces to his arm, making it only fireable by him. His shoes are standard issue combat boots, pants are military issue, with Kevlar fibers woven into it to provide slightly more protection and durability than normal. He wears a plain white t-shirt with a gray hooded jacket, over which he either wears a military greatcoat or his personal duster with a UD GmbH patch on the shoulder. Each one has a zipper in the left arm so that he can easily access the keyboard. The overcoats are made of reflex cloth, and reinforced with light ceramic plates, to take away a bit of the impact from bullets. Underneath the coat itself he wears a standard clamshell vest. He also carries a standard issue combat knife, holstered on his right, the pistol is holstered on the left. He also has a powerful laptop in his bag for missions where it a heavier processing power is needed, or when he is stationary for a mission. He has a compact scouting drone, a small sphere the size of a tennis ball that pops rotors out. It's has a field of view camera that Kaizen can tap into when necessary. He has a few bandage wraps, an average amount of ammo, and food rations for 3 days.

History: Kaizen had a normal childhood, though growing up he was very interested in computers. He began to specialize as a computer tech, and eventually entered the military with it. He went to commander school, where he learned battle tactics, and he found a way to integrate his two fields of knowledge. He worked for several years as in the private sector, enlisted to protect the interests of his parent company, UD GmbH. Once the war kicked off, he was enlisted by the same company, leading a squad to take down special targets and guard important locations. Eventually, the war ended, and he was sent off on his next mission, to ensure that this railway is built.

Other notes: He has several very useful pieces of software built into his units. One is an auto decrypter/encrypter. Another is a worm virus for taking down enemy systems. Another is battle surveillance software, using his small scout drone to overview the battlefield and offer tactical advice. This combined with the decrypter can let him hack enemy equipment and use it for himself. A final piece of software is one tailor made by him. It is an auto targeting software that taps into his arm, allowing it to make very fast and accurate adjustments to eliminate targets. However, it puts a lot of stress on his system, so he has to use it sparingly.

Still the real-life term for that kind of weapon is anti-tank guided missile, or ATGM. Also 14 D cells is about 70 pounds of batteries; I understand you want a week's worth of power, but they are rechargeable.

These D cells are the size of a paperback book and weigh five pounds. I'm working with a different standard. Maybe I should write it down.

AA- Used to power operate small devices with minimal power requirements, like brain implants. Weight- 2000 to a pound
A- The size of a watch battery, used for small consumer grade electronics that require low power outputs. Weight- 200 to a pound
B- The size of a pistol cartridge, used for small computers, pocket radios, small tools and 'holdout' energy weapons. Weight- 20 to a pound
C- The size of a pistol magazine, used for most hand tools, pistol and rifle sized energy weapons and high powered electronics. Weight- half a pound
D- The size of a thick paperback book, used to power heavy beam weapons, light exoskeletons and other heavy equipment. Weight- 5 pounds
E- The size of a backpack, used to power light vehicles, powered armour, emplaced beam weapons and other power intensive systems. Weight- 20 pounds
F- The size of a compact car engine, as one would expect, this is used to power vehicles, and large vehicle mounted energy weapons. Weight- 200 pounds

Oh, and trust me, the AT-ST might be a joke before the power of two logs, but the vehicles you'll be facing won't be fazed by them. However, a good shaped-charge will punch a hole in something, if nothing else.

It will always be a pet peeve of mine; that huge block paragraph for your equipment is a pain to sift through to see what you have or don't have. I guess I'll call it 'bullet point list', is what I prefer. If you feel the need to give it a fancy description, just put it after each item. Note, I don't mean literal bullet points.

Alright, I can fix that. It would've been better, but I wrote it all on a phone normal while traveling and on a plane, and I posted it up right before our flight was leaving, so I didnt really have time to proofread it all and format. Normally I'm better about that kind of stuff :p
