I play on a server with a group of people. I beam down to a planet and open a chest and take the contents. Game crashes. I lose my fucking character.

Looks like the crash caused a complete file corruption (hard to say since you posted not the whole log). You can try restoring one of the backup files. [ID].player.bak1 is the latest. [ID] is the player id. When restoring a backup you will loose the progression made after the backup was created.
-> If you have only one character there will be only one id.
-> If you have more characters open the file metadata in a texteditor of your choice. Somewhere will be "order" and ids to it. The id which is not in the list will be the id of the corrupted player file.

Okay, how do I restore a backup character?

    Just rename the [ID].player.bak1 to [ID].player ^^

Didn't work. Tried restoring .bak2 and even .bak3, still doesn't work.

Could you attach your player file? (put it into a zip file) I'd like to take a look into it's content.

I included all my backups as well, the character's name that was corrupted was "Kald'an."

The playerfile is missing a few bytes at the end. I try if i can add them manually. Just give me a few minutes.
FYI the backup (.bak1) loads fine for me.

Looks like something else is messed up with the file. I'd recommend using the .bak1 file instead. You would loose 2h of progression but that is imo better than loosing the whole char.

You said the backup loads fine for you, can you show me how you have your folder set up?

There you have it. I also made a screenshot from the character selection.

I suppose I can keep trying to restore from backups. I'm going to try and put the save on my laptop and run starbound from there and see if it works.

Finally got it working. Thank you!
