Modding Discussion Does the new mod installation method override or merge files such as player.config?

The title is pretty much self explanatory. I added my mod, alright, but when I was going to add a recipe to the leather item, I got an error to the log saying "Duplicate item leather". Then I tried adding the recipe to be learned in tier 1. I tried a method to only add the line I need to the player.config and remove every other line that I don't need. Didn't work - the log said it was missing some functions in the .config file


So, here's my question: is there a way that with this new mod installation method you can merge your player.config with other mods' player.config files? If yes, how so?

 

It Overwrites atm, so you can only have 1 player.config, if you install a second mod, it will only read 1 of them.
