'I can't fit,' He says sheepishly, motioning to the entrance and then to his size. 'That's why I got her, she can scout because small.'
Calico glowers angerly at the Kquoldl ((forgot how to spell it)), but her face is hidden by her helmet. "Fine, I'll go." She signs before turning on the floodlights on her helmet and entering the hole.
It takes a few rotations, but you get it in. The thing clicks, and a line across the middle forms, parallel with the wall. Rotate it? It would seem so. The excavated portion is fairly small, with only the two doors accessible. A key more like from the looks of it. The place reeks of some sort of animal. Traces of smallish animal remains are present embedded in the walls.
"Heh, seems you're getting an audience, boss." "Great, just in time for some performance anxiety." Rook gives the thing a turn. "And here we go..."
The door twists open like a spiral valve, stopping when you do. The smell of death wafts from inside. The door opens. A chill goes down both of your spines. You can't walk, only crawl like a worm on your belly. It's getting narrower as you go on. The smell is growing stronger. You are finding it hard to breathe.
Rook tries to pull the polyhedron back out, it might be useful later. She pokes her head through the door, shotgun ready. "Yeah, whatever died here did so recently. Still wishing for that respirator."
Lesc sniffs interestedly, while Lia fans it away from her nose. She unhooks her chakram from her belt
Inside, it's a very peculiar and spacious waiting room of sorts. Stools and tables of different kinds are all about. Some that would be suitable for a large biped, the others... not quite so familiar... A very wide ramp leads upstairs. There are corpses everywhere of alien kinds. They still have fresh upon them, if slightly rotted. Spores grow from a fair few, though several seem to have been decomposed completely save for the strange skeleton. A Salzar speaks up. "That's... that's not possible... They should have been dead for millennia now... I mean, the ruins here are old as the planet itself. Surely they'd be at least skeletonized?"
"I guess you're missing a few details; and are you sure it's been sealed the whole time? A place this big's gonna have cracks everywhere."
"We're not the only ones in here then." He moves down to the door and waits beside Rook. "Ready when you are."
"I'm no genius, but that door would have kept all air and everything out, maybe keeping them in good shape?"
"Uh, sure." Rook steps through the door, while Schäfer leads, taking point. "Dead biomass doesn't last long, even in a sterile environment; unless you freeze it. And this place isn't sterile to begin with."
