Closed Crafting Bugs

When playing, I needed to craft wooden fences. I went into the crafting menu and crafted several fences. I opened up the inventory screen to add them to the hotbar to find they were not in my inventory. I tried this with a few items and so far it has only happened with wooden planks and wooden fences. Please comment if you have the same problem and find anything else that can't be crafted.
